    Quants Systems Analyst

    Job description

    JOB SPECIFICATION:

    Critical Performance Areas:

    The successful candidate will have the following critical performance areas:

    • Constructing and/or critically analysing financial models (eg: product pricing, curve stripping, scenario analysis)
    • Process-design, -analysis, -testing, development and –troubleshooting in pricing/risk-analysis
    • Systems-capability/fit analysis in the area of pricing/risk-analysis
    • Implementing production-ready, supportable applications which comply with agreed upon standard
    • Assisting in product-implementations with the responsibility for validating/constructing pricing and scenario-analysis

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Mathematical, actuarial, physics or engineering tertiary degree would be suitable
    • C# / Java coding experience
    • Experience with SQL and No-SQL databases
    • Experience implementing numerical methods an advantage

    Competencies Required:

    • The successful candidate must have exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, related to the technology providing risk/pricing solutions (process-design, testing methods, model-coding, troubleshooting, and capability-analysis).
    • S/he must be able to function independently, as well as work well in a team. S/he will need excellent communication- and planning-skills, required to effectively extract business requirements (by, for example, sitting with a trader to understand a mathematical/risk-analytical problem) and convert into suitable analysis and development tasks, as well as to communicate between stakeholders (user, developer, desk head). Some measure of fearlessness/assertiveness and persistence is required to do this efficiently in a front-office environment.
    • S/he will need to be able to drive projects, and effectively manage dependencies on other areas of the bank
    • S/he will need the ability to interpret (and create where needed) functional specifications / use-case diagrams / user stories to assist the developers in creating solutions (following an accepted standard (UML))

    Environment Support Analyst

    Job description

    Introduction

    At a macro level this role will be primarily responsible for the support and maintenance of various systems.

    At a micro level this role is responsible for providing Technical support, building, maintaining and overviewing general health of trading systems.

    Overview of the Position

    The Environment Support Analyst will report directly into the Team Lead as part of the development community. This head will look after the person’s career aspirations and training.

    • Develop and maintain scripts:
    • That monitor the health of the system
    • Perform regular clean up and archiving activities
    • Execute various processes for end-of-day batch schedules
    • Manage system performance by using System Reports, monitoring System Degradation and Capacity Planning
    • Build Environments
    • Build systems with specified software versions by:
    • Checking out from source repositories, or
    • Using pre-compiled packages.
    • Execute Software releases and upgrades as well as build and maintain:

    • Provide Technical support on trading systems Applications
    • Assist with technical queries
    • Analyze possible causes
    • Perform corrective measures
    • Monitor stability of systems during the trading day

    Systems Analyst

    Job description

    To evaluate and define requirements for delivering the necessary capability to business that enables quality solutions and a client centric orientation

    The role is accountable for the following key performance areas:

    • Translating business needs into detailed business requirements, functional, integration and process specifications;
    • Problem analysis - analyze business or system problems and facilitate solution exploration;
    • Process analysis - analyze and evaluate current and proposed business processes;
    • Data analysis - analyze data and situation, identify and solve problems, reason logically and draw valid conclusions;
    • Software analysis - analyze, design and implement purchased or in-house applications
    • Clarifying the business requirements and functional/process specifications for technical designers;
    • Co-ordinate and, where required, participate in the test effort to ensure that the delivered solution meets agreed business requirements and functional/ process specifications;
    • Act as liaison for and interface with business, internal and external parties;
    • Training of the trainers on new and existing products and services, where required;
    • Participation in post project implementation reviews;
    • Shared ownership of recurring production incidents by working with multiple stakeholders to resolve system issues;
    • Contribute to team growth and development.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • The successful candidate must be in possession of a relevant Degree (e.g. BSc or BCom)
    • A Diploma (or similar) in Business Analysis would be beneficial
    • Have at least 3 years relevant experience with Investment Banking products/businesses.
    • Have at least 5 years relevant experience in business analysis.
    • Have a good working knowledge of financial products across asset classes
