The Commonwealth Bank Group is executing a plan to enter and disrupt the South African banking market. This will be achieved through a combination of innovative technology platforms, simple transparent and relevant customer offers, unique and differentiated partnerships and a distinctive focus on digital banking. We will do this through a combination of this ultra-low cost innovative digital banking proposition together with an emphasis on financial literacy where we will deliver the knowledge and understanding that is a prerequisite to trust and participation.

The Purpose Of The Role

You will create solutions that enable a new way of distributing our products and services across South Africa. Locally within South Africa, you will lead a team of architects to provide architectural principles, end-to-end solution design (at both the conceptual and detailed level), as well as architecture governance.

You Will

• Perform the following tasks in manner consistent with CBA's values of Integrity,Collaboration, Accountability, Excellence and Service. • Lead the architecture community in South Africa
• Develop and maintain current state architecture, define target architecture and develop plans for transition and roadmap from current to desired architecture;
• Articulate and evaluate key options independent of technology for a given solution;
• Provide architectural advice/approvals for new business cases and project / enhancement requests by examining against current and target architecture;
• Provide an architectural governance function for the design and build deliverables to ensure traceability of the build solution to the architectural principles and business solutions.
• Risk Management: Develop and apply knowledge of the Group's risk appetite, policies and processes, including key risks and controls
• People Leadership:
• Inspiring others and setting the tone for an inclusive and high performance team
• Motivating and challenging your team to meet and exceed performance standards through continuous improvement and driving results
• Role modelling company vision and values
• Coaching, mentoring, managing performance, training and development of people
• Budget management

What will make you successful?

• Significant experience (+- 10 years) in a role leading an architecture function; strong people leadership capabilities
• Experience in Financial Services – this may be in banking or in another industry that is delivering financial services
• Ability to work in an agile way within a fast-paced and dynamic work environment to tight deadlines
• Ability to innovate to push the boundaries of what technology can provide and also to keep things simple and standard
• IT qualification is desirable (not essential)
