    Operations Assistant

    Job description

    Toy Kingdom is striving to become Africa’s most loved and most customer centric toy retail chain that provides a magical environment bringing play to life.

    An opportunity has opened for an Operations Assistant to join our Operations team and to be responsible for the overseeing of the day to day running of the store admin and store admin processes. The successful candidate will perform administrative and clerical duties for the Operations division.

    This position has a direct report into the Operations Director and will suit an individual with extensive retail store operations at both store and back office manager. It is expected that this person will be a self-starter, who can work independently, is able to fit into a non-corporate run environment and has the ability to communicate at all levels.

    Key deliverables:              

    • Contribute towards increasing team efficiency by giving support both operationally and administratively.
    • Support the operations division in managing and resolving operational issues.
    • Assist with implementation and management of risk, payroll, staffing, time & attendance controls.
    • Work with the HR, Training and Operations teams to provide customer service excellence.
    • Update internal operational procedures document as needed.
    • Ensuring costs for store maintenance, stationery and staffing are within budget parameters.
    • Collate and distribute relevant internal management measurable dashboards.
    • Participate in in-store management meetings.

    Key relationships:            

    • MD, Operations Director, Regional Operations Managers
    • Head of Departments – Buying, HR, Marketing.

    Qualifications and Core Competencies:      

    • +5 years of experience in retail with expansive exposure to all aspects thereof.
    • Proficient with MS Office and familiarity with inventory back end systems.
    • Understanding of retail math.
    • Must be a detailed planner, have strong analytical skills and excellent problem solving abilities.
    • Must have a clear understanding of processes and people.
    • Have strong leadership abilities.
    • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills.
    • Full understanding of merchandising concepts, retail operations and buying principles.
