    Senior Recons & Accounting Manager

    Job description

    Educational Requirements (Educational / academic qualifications)

    • Minimum CA or Post graguate degree
    • 10 years UT/LISP operational finance working experience

    Prior Work Experience / Background:

    • Minimum of 10 years working experience within a operational finance UT/LISP environment
    • Minimum of 5 years automated bank reconciliation experience essential
    • In-depth knowledge and experience of reconciliations
    • Minimum 5 years senior management experience
    • Good understanding of finance processes and procedures and control environments
    • Completed Articles pref

    Key Performance Areas: (Specific Description of the job)

    • Technical
      • Manage the UT finance recons teams, ensuring that the business unit is adequately staffed and meets KPIs and client SLA’s
      • Manage and monitor the daily bank recons of Client’s operational and temp accounts.
      • Manage and monitor the monthly General Ledger recons (Clearing Accounts) and Age Analysis and ensure that they are accurate and up to date
      • Review daily cash forecast and bank holding reports for Clients
      • Ensure that daily cash management is tightly controlled
      • Monitor the monthly recoveries to/from Clients.
      • Regular reporting to Client of recon stats.
    • Reporting on KPIs.
      • Implement and enforce a Risk Management Program to manage the risks in this team
      • Ensure efficiency of audits, both internal and external
      • Ensure that the accounting and reconciliation function is managed effectively and efficiently
      • Ensure that all the appropriate internal controls are functioning effectively at all times
      • Manage the cost effectiveness of the department
      • Assist team in terms of problem resolution and troubleshooting
      • Liaison with clients and involved with new client take-on’s.
      • Ensure timely delivery to the clients – Driving towards achieving SLA turnaround times.
      • Understand (and participate in) projects impacting the team
      • Attend operational meeting with clients
      • Actively participate in the management of the UT division
    • Project
      • In conjunction with Management conceptualise the architecture of core automated reconciliation and accounting processes irrespective of platforms utlised
      • Continuosly refine and engineer the automated approach to efficient and effective bank reconciliation and related accounting processes
      • Manage delivery of third party consultants and vendors against pre-defined KPI’s and SLA’s or agreed service offerings
      • Be instrumental in the management of the migration of current recons and accounting systems and methodologies to identified future solutions
      • Proven ability to manage delivery against agreed gantts, costs and quality outputs. Formal knowledge of project management methodologies and software will be an advantage

      • Providing feedback to the teams
      • Perform Performance Development Dialogues with team leader/s
      • Performance management of individuals where necessary
      • Guide, motivate and inspire team members
      • Manage the development of staff, mainly through training.
