    Sales Manager

    Job description

    Summary

    This position focuses on developing IDC’s research and consulting business with the Telecom Service Providers and select government bodies across Africa.

    Requirements

    • Understand business challenges with the identified customers, both existing and potential.
    • Position IDC as the go to partner for all market information and solving multitude of challenges which need information from the market through consultative discussions and workshops.
    • Within the identified customers, create business demand, which includes research and consulting services and engagements; Complete all sales activities such as:
    • Create Proposal preparation for prospective clients;
    • Focus Client acquisition: contact and follow-up;
    • Developing prospects and client profiling: developing new contacts and identifying major decision makers within the Telecoms industry and the identified government accounts;
    • Support regional teams across Africa in their business development activities with the telecom service providers
    • Customer care and management: in this role, the holder of the position will maintain close contact with IDC 's clients and complete with post-delivery relations in order;
    • Maintain effective working relations with local and WW IDC analysts and IDC global sales operations;
    • Create and manage business and market development/marketing activity;
    • Financial monitoring and management of sales to assigned key clients, forecasts and submission of final results;
    • Create symbiotic relationships within the ICT and Government ecosystem to further IDC demand and services.
    • The candidate should have proven experience in a techno-commercial role
    • Excellent at establishing and managing relationships with customers and prospects;
    • Sound understanding of the business challenges of telecom service providers
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, fluent in English; Added language (French, Portuguese) would be beneficial
    • Comfortable in writing proposals;
    • Excellent user knowledge of MS Office and databases.
    • He or she will also have or quickly be able to establish a network of contacts in the strategy/marketing departments of Telecom players in the region and be adept at communicating, listening, interpersonal relationships, and negotiating.
    • Teamwork capabilities are fundamental. Flexibility, initiative, and problem solving are also required. The candidate should be a dynamic and enthusiastic person geared towards commercial thinking and business opportunity, with self-confidence and the ability to work under pressure and cope easily with change.

    Education and qualification

    • University Degree is essential. An MBA would be preferred;
    • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Sales or Business development role focused on selling to the Telecom industry;
    • Experience with a Research House/Telecom Services Provider/Telecom Solution Provider in a pre-sales/solution consulting role/product management role would be an added advantage

    The successful candidate should be comfortable in carrying a large USD target and interacting with senior level executives who drives client engagements independently.
