    Home Finance: Financial Manager

    Job description

    The incumbent will be responsible for providing accounting services to the Home Finance Division and will be required to perform the following duties:

    • Manage the HF accounting team (4 staff members) including their performance assessments and development plans
    • Responsible for providing financial assistance to the Home Finance department heads, their customers, in terms of monthly financial reporting, which includes variance analysis against budget / forecast
    • Manage the budget and forecast process for the division
    • Preparation of the cash flow forecast for the division
    • Responsible for the division’s daily cash flow requirements and banking administration
    • Responsible for the division’s monthly reporting requirements to both internal and external stakeholders, including funding covenants
    • Collation and preparation of documents required for the division’s ALCO (Asset and Liability Committee) and opsco meetings
    • Assist with tax planning initiatives for the division and consider the impact on other group entities
    • Liaison with internal and external auditors to provide the relevant information requested
    • Responsible for the overall control environment for accounting processes to ensure that the risks are adequately managed
    • Responsible for the accounting month end process, ensuring deadlines are met, reconciliations are reviewed etc.
    • Review of the various legal entities’ VAT apportionment and income tax computations on a monthly basis, as well as the relevant submissions to SARS
    • Liaison with the business to ensure that source data for accounting purposes is adequately managed and controlled
    • Responsible for accounting and finance related risks for the division, maintaining the risk register and ensuring compliance with new International Financial Reporting Standards and relevant taxation laws
    • Assistance with finance related strategic initiatives in terms of the division’s planning cycle
    • Responsible for the preparation of the division’s annual financial statements
    • Assistance with other ad hoc tasks / projects as they arise

    MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE

    • A qualified Chartered Accountant (South Africa)
    • Relevant track record of at least 5 years’ post articles experience. Financial services or a banking environment will be advantageous
    • Advanced Excel and the ability to work with cubes
    • Ability to work with teams in different geographical locations
