    Senior Manager: Tax & Payroll

    Job description

    Job Objectives

    Tax Objectives/Outputs:

    • Review and manage the Income tax and deferred tax computations, returns and schedules are completed accurately, timeously and in line with income tax legislation.
    • Review and manage VAT and PAYE reconciliations and ensuring the payments are made timeously and the returns are submitted.
    • Manage external relationships (SARS, auditors etc.) in order to manage any queries and group accounts.
    • Review of the provisional returns and ensure the timeous submission thereof to SARS.
    • Oversee all audit queries received from SARS and ensure that it is handled efficiently and timely.
    • Review and manage ad hoc submission of forms, returns and reconciliations to SARS.
    • Manage and review accounting records (GL Accounts) to ensure that they are aligned with the SARS submissions.
    • Highlight risk areas and solutions to mitigate the tax risk.
    • Ensure compliance to tax legislation for all tax exposure areas, including income tax, CGT, withholding taxes, transfer pricing, VAT, customs duties, PAYE.
    • Consult with business on new products and agreements.
    • Review and ensure compliance of the group transfer pricing document.
    • Maintain and update transfer pricing policy and practices (including related taxes for the business, intra-group and sister companies).
    • Update and maintain the tax policy.
    • Manage and supervise direct reports within the tax team.
    • Advises the business on various local and international tax implications that impact on the operations (e.g. legal structure, pricing and services).
    • Analyse information and develop practical and creative tax solutions tailored to meet specific tax related scenarios.
    • Proactively seek opportunities to achieve tax efficiency.
    • Provide tax opinions to the internal business when required.
    • Manage external tax advisory relationships.
    • Oversigt of Payroll Functionality.
    • Provide functional guidance to senior management and business within operations on matters pertaining to tax and payroll.
    • Responsible for all aspects of payroll staff resourcing, succession planning, management and development ensuring the right people are in place to support service delivery, achieving production and performance targets at all times.
    • Deliver the Telesure Service Way through personal effort and through others.

    Level of Education:

    Essential:

    • B.Com degree
    • HDIP Taxation

    Desirable:

    CA(SA)

    Essential:

    • 5 years within corporate tax environment
    • 5 years managerial experience
