Position purpose

Work as part of the global Digital Business team to deliver solutions to market on time

Responsibilities

• Analyse problems, understand and contribute to the design and implementation the solution
• Continually learn and improve on skills (goal of advancing to Senior Developer level)
• Contribute to continuous improvement of applications
• Works with team members to co-ordinate changes through to the QA and Production environments
• Attends to support calls promptly
• Adheres to keeping codebase aligned with best industry practice with regards to design/development standards

• Delivery of projects on time
• Increase in developer productivity
• Increase in Wiki knowledgebase
• Increase in automated code and test coverage

Challenges

• Designing the best solution given global constraints
• Ability to multi-task between different systems to solve the most pressing issues first
• Working across time zones and with different cultures
• Dealing with complexity of different business processes within single system
• Dealing with different technologies within a single work day (JavaScript, Java, .NET, PHP, etc…)
• Providing 24x7 on-call support (one week on-call each month)
• Assisting team members whilst delivering own work on time
• Delivering projects on time regardless of challenges that arise

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science / Information Technology
• Certifications in Java, Java Enterprise Edition/Spring, ABAP, .NET, Front End JavaScript are advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in IT
• Working knowledge of Java and industry experience with JEE
• Experience developing HTML5 single page web applications
• Experience working in an Agile team and agile toolsets (JIRA/Confluence/Slack)

• Responsive Design - mobile, tablet and web

• Mondernizr and how to use to implement cross browser functionality and degradation
