    Data Architect

    Job description

    Reporting tthe Executive for Enterprise Architecture - the Data Architect is accountable for the definition and execution of the data architecture for the Tiger Brands Group. This includes developing, communicating, executing and reviewing enterprise information and data frameworks, models and data architectures. Define the current state and future state data architecture and achieve the future state data architecture through initiatives and projects. The Data Architecture will be based on data management best practice such as DAMA DMBOK.

    Tbe considered for this opportunity, you would need thave at least 5 years experience as a Data Architect with at least 10 years in IT Systems Development which includes database design and data modeling.

    The Data Architecture decisions will be group wide including our South African and International operations and will have very high strategic impact. You will be a key member included in all RFI, RFP and software selection tenders especially where it pertains tthe data domain.

    Key outputs of your role will be:

    • How trusted the quality of the data is, and how minimal the issues are that are raised regarding data quality by senior executives
    • A Data Governance Council is established with Data Owners
    • The organization has an active Data Quality Dashboard that can show
    • The organisation has an active Data Quality Dashboard that can show the quality of data as defined according tthe six dimensions of completeness, consistency, conformity, accuracy, integrity and timeliness. 

    • All of the defined Key Outputs are in place, up tdate (regularly updated), accepted up all key stakeholders and used timprove the Data Management maturity of the organisation. 


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Define the Data Architecture (which consists of all the Key Outputs).
    • Socialise, communicate and educate key stakeholders on the purpose, benefits and outcomes of the Data Architecture
    • On projects, be accountable for the Data Management outputs. Where projects are outsourced, provide thought leadership and strategic direction tthe project resources
    • Responsible twork with IT teams (GRC, Applications, Operations and PMO) texecute on the objectives of the Data Architecture
    • Setup and chair the Data Governance Council meetings; work with Data Owners tresolve data issues
    • Selection and implementation of tools tperform Data Quality, Data Profiling and general Data Management
    • Analyse and document data models, data lifecycle and data flows across all applications
    • Responsible for conceptual and logical data
    • Data Architecture decisions will be Group wide (including South Africa and all the TB International countries) and are high impact with a strategic (multi-year) impact
    • Key member tbe included in all RFI, RFP and software selection tenders especially where these pertain tthe data domain
    • Monthly Data Governance Council meetings
    • All data architecture related decisions required in projects and initiatives models; not responsible for physical data models (this remains the responsibility of Applications teams)

    DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A recognised Information Technology degree i.e. Bsc. Computer Science, Bcom Informatics
    • TOGAF trained and certified
    • Certified Data Management professional or similar
    • Experience
    • At least five years experience in a Data Architect position
    • Minimum of 10 years in IT systems development includding database design and data modelling
