    Corporate Credit Manager

    Job Description

    Main purpose of the job:

    The main purpose of the job is to manage the Credit  Management process for the Group, manage the Credit  Management team & Pre and Post Legal Accounts Department as well as the Group Debtor reporting.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Process owner of the credit management policies and procedures by maintaining them in line with best business practice and within the appropriate risk appetite of the Group.
    • Monitor and manage the Group’s credit granting process and procedures.
    • Assess, motivate and approve the Group’s large accounts in line with the delegated authorities as per the credit management policy.
    • Monitor and manage the Groups top 30 accounts.
    • Manage and ensure adherence to the Group’s Insurance (CGIC) policies and procedures
      • Manage the insurance policy and ensure applicable to the Group’s risk strategy
      • Motivate insured limits with the insurance company if required
      • Manage the claims for the Group
    • Manage the upkeep of the Group’s debtor master files.
    • Maintain a department organizational structure sufficient to meet all goals and objectives of the department.
    • Manage, motivate, train and up-skill staff to provide efficient and effective support to the Group and to meet their individual KPA’s.
    • Facilitate ongoing training and communicate any changes required to the credit management policies and procedures.
    • Manage, advise and support staff on credit strategy and developments in the market relating to their credit management functions.
    • Compile and manage monthly consolidated Group credit management reports and statistics required by the Board, CFO and Operations.
    • Highlight and manage areas of non-compliance to credit management policies and procedures  
    • Analyze and highlight areas of concern and risk with Divisional Financial Managers and Divisional Credit
    • Managers for corrective action
    • Monitor and maintain the integrity of the Group’s debtor master files on the ERP system.
    • Drive Group reporting efficiencies through systems development.
    • Manage all pre and post legal debtor matters for the Group to minimize risk and maximize recoveries.
    • Ensure all handed over matters are managed according to the policies and procedures
    • Review all relevant documentation pertaining to a handed over matter ensuring complete prior to assigning to an Attorney.
    • Liaise with Attorneys and/or Debt Collectors and manage their service levels and performance on handed over matters.

    REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

    • Must have a proven track record of at least five years in a senior Credit Management position.
    • Qualification in Credit management / Financial qualification / Legal qualification 
    • Healthy Knowledge of Credit Insurance.
    • Ability to understand legal terms and conditions of contracts and the interpretation thereof.
    • Experience in the Construction/Building Industry will be advantageous
    • Excellent knowledge of debt collecting procedures and laws and regulations governing debtor management (NCA, CPA etc.)
    • Thorough understanding of the National Credit Act
    • Advanced Excel experience and a healthy knowledge and experience of computerised systems.
