    (1594) Junior Economic Statistician - ESD

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Collect, compile, process and analyse statistics, and share findings with the internal team.
    • Update and maintain the statistical database by verifying the accuracy of data received, validating source data and liaising frequently with data providers. 
    • Analyse economic conditions and assist in preparing comprehensive draft economic reports.
    • Liaise with and provide statistical information to internal and external stakeholders. 
    • Demonstrate understanding and application of methodological standards to ensure adherence to international best practices.
    • Assist with special projects and conduct research on statistical methodologies. 
    • Perform general administrative and ad hoc tasks as required. 

    Job requirements

    To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

    • an Honours degree (NQF 8) in Economics, Statistics, Finance or a related field; and
    • two years’ experience in the field of statistics, economic analysis and financial economics.

    Additional requirements include:

    • an affinity for data, statistics and economic analysis; 
    • an aptitude for compiling data using computerised systems; 
    • initiative, with analytical and problem-solving skills; 
    • task-orientated, with excellent time management skills and a strong work ethic;
    • ability to perform effectively in a deadline-driven environment and maintain quality under pressure;
    • skills in managing complexity, ambiguity and high volume and unstructured data; 
    • ability to work independently and within a team or project environment;
    • proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products;
    • good communication and interpersonal skills; 
    • good report writing skills; and
    • the ability to pay attention to detail.
