About the job:

• The CSIR has an Internship opportunity for Technicians in the National Laser Centre.
• The purpose of this role is to provide support to Research and Development staff and projects.
• Perform duties with the guidance of the line manager/supervisor and assist with laboratory or workshop tasks.
• This Internship opportunity will enhance the theoretical knowledge of the applicant and provide valuable, practical experience through mentorship.
• The position is based in CSIR, Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:

• Application of methods and protocols for basic testing and operating procedures which will be followed as per set instructions;
• Equipment maintenance and usage and reporting of operations and maintenance activities to supervisor;
• Support R&D activities and ensure tasks are completed timeously and according to specified instructions;
• Interpretation of results, data validation and reporting deviations to supervisor;
• Data management and documentation by capturing data documenting it on the document management system.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• Minimum Grade 12;
• National Diploma in mechanical, electrical, metallurgical, electronic engineering or physics will be an added advantage;
• Good interpersonal skills;
• Ability to read, write and follow written instructions;
• Good work ethics;
• Computer literate.
