HSSE Manager at Petroplan

Job description

Reporting to the Southern Africa Country Manager, the HSSE Manager will be responsible to strategize, manage and improve all functions pertaining to HSSE, which include but are not be limited to risk, safety, security, health and environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

• CONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT
• Ensure contractor compliance in respect of all HSSE matters.
• Ensure that contractor's health and safety policies and standards are in place and are in accordance with the companies standards prior to access to branches.
• Assist and support contractors in the preparation of risk assessments and safe working procedures.
• Monitor the availability and appropriateness of risk assessments and safe working procedures.
• RISK
• Assist management in the identification and control of potential risk exposures.
• Devise, develop and monitor effective risk management strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies.
• TRAINING
• Coach, support and train all managers and employees in HSSE matters and compliance.
• Identify HSSE training needs and co-ordinate interventions.
• Training and development related strategies.
• STRATEGIC
• Propose annual HSSE strategy and plan to Management team.
• Plan, implement and co-ordinate strategic and practical HSSE programmes.
• Develop and execute HSSE plan in accordance with business plan.
• Lead and ensure that audit standards are met.
• Strategy implementation.
• HSSE MANAGEMENT
• Advise all Managers on HSSE matters and ensure the implementation of recommendations.
• Compile and manage annual HSSE action plans per Branch.
• Conduct audits, review audit findings and manage compliance with action items.
• Compile and circulate best practices regarding all incidents.
• Advise on safety aspects with regards to the use of equipment and systems within the Branches.
• Monitor the effectiveness of all HSSE representatives and conduct regular meetings.

The ideal candidates will have:

• 5 years HSSE experience in a mid to senior level role, preferable within the Oil & Gas, Logistics, Supply Chain or related industries
• Experience in leading and influencing stake holders
• Professional certification
• Proven management skills
• Problem solving skills
• Excellent business administration skills.
