    Specialist: Tax Compliance

    Job Description

    Purpose of Job /Role Intent:

    Direct and Indirect Tax compliance functions for Sasol’s Mining and Sasol Technology hub.
    The incumbent will be responsible for all tax compliance functions locally and international relating to the Sasol Mining and Technology hub activities.
    The incumbent will support the Head of Tax to ensure that the Sasol Mining and Sasol Technology hub is tax compliant and to add value to the business of the SA operations group.
    The incumbent will also be responsible to assist with Sasol SA tax return as well as assistance with group projects.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience required

    • BCom Hons – 3 years tax experience
    • Post graduate qualification in Taxation would be advantageous

    or

    • B Com Hons and articles completed – 2 years tax experience
    • Post graduate qualification in Taxation would be advantageous

    Key accountabilities

    Direct Tax

    • Ensure proper treatment and management of statutory tax matters, tax return compliance, accounting for taxes and payments.
    • Conducts reviews to identify areas of potential non-compliance and incorrect tax treatment.
    • Prepare response to Revenue Authorities queries for review.
    • Assist and validate current and deferred tax charge for financial reporting purposes.

    Indirect Taxes

    • Ensures proper treatment and management of statutory indirect taxes, compliance, accounting and remittance.
    • Advices on VAT treatment of transactions both from compliance and planning perspective.
    • Conducts Vat reviews to identify areas of potential non-compliance

    General

    • Comply with Dividends tax, Royalty tax and withholding tax requirements.
    • Tax projects
    • Incumbent should develop support for the functions he/she performs.
    • Keep Head of Tax South Africa informed on all the above tax matters.
