    Senior Biopharmaceutical Representative

    Job description

    Key Job Functions:

    • Collaborates with manager to develop and implement territory POA and key account plans.
    • Evaluates progress vs. plan monthly and agrees to course corrections with manager
    • Contributes to Cluster/Territory Teams Collaborates (Medical Affairs/Key Account Manager, etc.) to agree on key account plan objectives/responsibilities
    • Engages with peers and Sales Manager to learn and share best practices
    • Demonstrates an understanding of industry and healthcare trends, of how retail practices, clinics and hospitals operate.
    • Identify and gather competitive information
    • Follows through on customer commitments and requests in a timely fashion
    • Reports customer activity and ensures customer profiles are kept up-to-date
    • Demonstrates an understanding of selling skills to satisfy customer and Amgen needs
    • Operates within the agreed expense budget aligned with POA priorities
    • Seeks advise and assistance to organize activities
    • Continuously develops and improves product knowledge, communication and selling skills through self-learning and active participation in agreed training programs. Drives own development

    Key Result areas:

    • Sales/Market Share 50%Achieve market share targets for your territory through:
    • Growing and/or maintaining market shares of promoted products in your territory

    • Market shares and/or market share growth of the promoted products in the territory are equal to, or above the company average
    • Sales of promoted products meet or exceed target
    • Territory Management 20%To Effectively And Optimally Manage Your Sales Territory And To Maximise The Number Of Calls On Target Doctor Population Through
    • Developing and implementing an annual territory planner, which is to be coordinated with colleagues in the territory (where applicable) including RML’s
    • Analysing all of the local data e.g. Impact Rx data on receipt of that individual data.
    • Maintaining an up to date customer data base
    • Ensuring optimal rating of all customers by using all data at your disposal on an ongoing basis.
    • Achieving all activity standards within your territory
    • Effectively planning call activities on an annual, quarterly and weekly basis (with colleagues call activities being taken into consideration
    • Achieving quarterly qualitative objectives which are set in conjunction with National Field Sales Manager
    • Professionally organizing and running CPD meetings, when identified as a need within the territory
    • Identifying and reporting relevant and accurate market intelligence to Head Office as well as accurate Adverse events reporting
    • Timeous submissions of all admin requirements – Weekly Planner by COB every Monday and Monthly written report by first Friday of the new business month

    Product Knowledge 15%

    Maintain an exceptional level of knowledge in line with an Amgen PSR standard through:

    • Meeting the minimum agreed level of knowledge with respect to the therapeutic areas in which you deal on your promoted products and those of the competitor.
    • To have a thorough knowledge, understanding and use of the relevant clinical studies for each promoted product.
    • To have a thorough knowledge and understanding of marketing strategies
    • To have thorough knowledge of the main funder policies affecting your territory

    Performance Will Only Be Satisfactory When

    • A minimum standard of 85% knowledge is achieved as measured by written and oral tests.
    • A thorough knowledge and understanding, as well as, use of clinical trials as determined by NFSM or other Managers working in field.
    • Flawlessly implement the strategic message of each promoted product and utelise the Detail Aid as per the strategy guide
    • To have thorough knowledge of the important funder policies regarding requirements for chronic medication approval

    Code of Conduct 15%

    Performance Will Only Be Satisfactory When

    • To take responsibility for Amgen “Do the Right Thing” within the sphere of influence and control, and to enforce the Code of Conduct within the spirit of the company’s policy:
    • There is compliance with all aspects of the Code of Conduct.
    • Corrective action is taken where deviation is noted.
    • Non-compliance is reported.

    Accountability and Authority Limits

    • Accountable for the management of the allocated territory, including successful implementation of all approved activities
    • Financial authority limit of R500, thereafter expenses to be approved by National Field Sales Manager (although authority limit of R500 exists, all monies to be spent must be communicated with the NFSM prior to committing to the spend)
    • Fully accountable for the adherence to Code of Conduct in carrying out every aspect of your job function
    • Accountable for the safekeeping and maintenance of assigned company property.
    • Provide impeccable customer service and remain professional, courteous and act with due urgency on customer requests

    Knowledge

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree in life science or (bio) medical sciences

    Minimum Requirements

    • At least 3-5 Years pharmaceutical industry in a sales-related job
    • Experience in General Medicine (Nephrology, Cardiovascular) preferred
    • Experience in Biologics advantageous
    • Knowledge of Customer Relation Management principles
