An exciting opportunity for a Video Editor exists within our team. Candidate must be multi-skilled in video editing, motion graphics design and videography. Assisting in conceptualising, content creation as well as owning the filming, processing, and editing of engaging, educational videos and creative projects. Extensive opportunity for growth and creativity. Full-time, flexible hours, based in the southern suburbs of Cape Town or Bryanston in Johannesburg.

Roles and responsibilities would include:

• Work together with the directors and content team to conceptualise and execute creatively driven, engaging and cutting-edge, educational videos.
• Film and oversee the video shoots in studio and field environments.
• Manage in-house shoots with audio, lighting and camera-work.
• Experiment with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements.
• Handle many aspects of post-production, from editing and grading, to titling and motion graphics.
• Create and edit promotional videos.
• Assist with suggesting or selecting music.
• Coordinate and organise video files, etc.
• Manage digital systems for archiving video footage and completed projects, and make recommendations about systems that ensure adequate capacity for digital storage.
• Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency and achieve the best outcome.
• Oversee and take responsibility for the entire process, from pre, through to production and post-production.
• Plus could potentially include:
• Attending camps, events and workshops in order to assist with the capturing of footage.

Requirements:

• This full-time position requires the ability to engage with a youthful eye; a strong work ethic; a determination to complete each project on schedule to a high-level; a natural creative edge; and a passion for education and the company’s mission. The job is divided between studio-based and creative location shoots, as well as production/editing requirements.
• Individuals applying for this position should have the following skills:
• Proven video editing ability and strong showreel.
• Great eye for selecting the right shot, and know-how for creating the desired mood.
• Proficiency in motion graphics and some experience in animation.
• Knowledge of photography and videography best practices.
• Knowledge of timing and continuity.
• Creative mind and storytelling skills.
• BS degree in film studies, cinematography or related field.
• Have own laptop/computer, phone, car and valid SA licence.
