    Job description

    The Video Entertainment segment of Naspers is a broad-based multinational media group headquartered in South Africa and Dubai with principal operations in pay television and video entertainment. The group operates in almost 50 countries in Africa. Its holding company, Naspers, is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and has an ADR listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). International investors account for around 50% of its shareholder base.

    An African platform operator, Video Entertainment’s expertise lies distributing media products, creating media content and selling advertising. Its key areas of operations are:

    Pay Television: direct-to-home satellite and digital terrestrial television services; and

    SVOD: subscription video on demand services across multiple online platforms with a focus on library and local content in developing markets

    Operating in the majority of African countries, Video Entertainment is the leading Pay TV provider in most of the key African markets. Its strategy is to offer the best local and international content across multiple platforms to customers wherever they are.

    The group’s strength lies in its focus on local language and culture, its entrepreneurial spirit and the quality of its workforce. Over the years Video Entertainment has built a successful track record of identifying trends early, adapting them for the markets in which it operates and leveraging them to maximum advantage. The group generates revenues mainly by collecting subscription fees, with a moderate contribution from advertising revenue. Its key objectives are to:

    Purpose of the Position:

    To ensure that the MAL or SA business units are supported in terms of Existing and New Information requirements to enable rapid, accurate assessments of actual and potential threats and opportunities within the micro and macro environments within which MAL and/or SA operates. Provide Key insights as requested as well proactively looking at opportunities and process/productivity improvements across the business. The individual will maintain key relationships with Senior Management positions and ensure that all informational requirements are meeting expectations in terms of relevance and accuracy.

    Key Performance Objectives

    • Contribute to the achievement of business strategy by supporting business units through optimising all elements of the employee lifecycle
    • Work with business unit to translate business needs into HR requirements
    • Partner with business units to identify and understand key business challenges in order to prioritise and drive solutions
    • Support the achievement of business financial goals by leveraging HR skill and expertise
    • Implementation of relevant Centers of Excellence’ solutions to address key business challenges
    • Provide feedback to Centres of Excellence about HR solution effectiveness
    • Monitor the quality of services delivered (i.e. timeliness, accuracy, efficiency and responsiveness) and take prompt, corrective action in any cases of dissatisfaction or issues with delivery)
    • Monitor the HR events throughout the year and coach the business leaders
    • Identify the organisational capabilities required to execute the business strategy
    • Actively identifies gaps, proposes and implement changes necessary to cover risks
    • Effectively manage human resource administration through the HR team
    • Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships with HR Leadership, Business Leadership, wider HR community and Employees
    • Champion and enable effective cross-functional working relationships to create and drive an integrated HR employee experience
    • Manage Human Resource Practitioners

    Qualifications

    Masters Degree in Business, Computer Science, MIS, CA or MBA required

    Experience / Skills

    • 7 to 10 years’ experience in a Management Support role function
    • 7 to 10 years’ experience in Analytics and being able to portray a worthy storyline from the analyzed data and information to management
    • 10 years’ experience managing direct reports
    • Very strong PowerPoint Skills
    • Very strong Excel Skills
    • Excellent Presentation Skills with the ability to Present, Convince and Defend insights at Exco Level
