Senior statistical Analyst at Rand Mutual - RMA

Job Description
Core purpose of the Job:

• Communicate effectively with analytics/data experts as well as business managers to assess opportunities and develop data driven solutions for RMA clients across a variety of sectors;
• Translate business objectives into data and analytics solutions and, translate results into business insights using appropriate data engineering, analytics, visualization & dashboard applications;
• Help develop advanced predictive analytical solutions and identify areas of new opportunity for data science and analytics for RMA and its clients
• Communicate with and educate both senior and junior colleagues to further embed data science and analytics across the organisation and within our clients;
• Help pilot and deploy new data management, analytics tools and platforms for RMA
• Advise the organisation on best practices for enterprise data architecture and data governance, and managing analytical infrastructures

Minimum Requirements and Experience:

• Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics or Information Sciences such as business analytics or informatics.
• 6+ years’ experience in data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical modeling, large scale data acquisition, transformation, and cleaning, both structured and unstructured data.
• Track record of leading and collaborating on strategic initiatives.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with people at all levels.
• Proficiency in some combination of SQL, R or Python.
• Knowledge and expertise in extracting and transforming large datasets; experience with ETL tools like Informatica, DataStage, Ab Initio, SSIS or Talend will be beneficial.
• Demonstrated experience with database technologies is advantageous (e.g. MS SQL Server , Oracle, SAP, DB2, Teradata)
• Experience with NoSQL database technologies (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra,etc) is beneficial
• Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to work independently.
• Experience with dashboards, business intelligence tools, and visualization solutions a plus.

Main Functions and Responsibility:

Direct

• Work with various business teams to understand business problems, translate them into data science projects and appropriately prioritize and execute.
• Help to increase staff’s knowledge of predictive analytics, machine learning and data science.
• Explore, model, mine, and experiment with data to solve critical business issues/problems.
• Develop relationships with external data and analytics vendors and interact with as needed.
• Provide training, documentation and other assistance to RMA staff to support and expand the use of data science analytics.
• Keep abreast of new and current data science techniques and technologies.

• Monthly reporting of the Key Performance indications for the analytics and data science reporting function
• Effective reporting and assessment of problem areas
• Train relevant RMA team members to support big data/data science initiatives.
