INTRODUCTION

At Kurtosys we take pride in engineering software the right way, using cutting edge technologies, and taking a keen interest in our employees’ professional development. We are currently hiring Automation engineers to work on our movement towards continuous delivery and integration and to ensure the continued health of our cloud based software platform. You would work closely with existing members of our infrastructure and engineering teams to bring automation to our platform from the perspective of provisioning, monitoring and scaling. We are looking for candidates that have a solid technical background, care about the quality of their work, and are willing to work in teams formed with different disciplines towards delivery.

Required Technical Skills

• Hands-on, working experience of using and developing Configuration Management systems such as Puppet (preferred, as we are a Puppet house), Ansible, Salt, or Chef
• Strong Linux administration and networking skills, preferably Ubuntu 14.04 or above
• Good knowledge of either Bash, Python or Ruby
• Experience with agile methodologies
• Practiced in DevOps and ASR assessment (at least deploy-ability, modifiability, test-ability, and monitor-ability).
• Experience Automation (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery).
• Experience in a DevOps culture organisation and/or Infrastructure support
• Experience with source control using GIT
• Experience with Jenkins for CI
• Sound knowledge of networking (DNS, TCP/IP (addressing, subnetting and routing concepts), DHCP)
• Experience of operational and development processes
• Good knowledge and experience of information security and the application/implementation within an infrastructure (HTTPS is key)
• Experience in a web environment with exposure to Nginx, HA Proxy, or Apache

Desired Technical Skills

• Experience deploying and/or managing web applications such as WordPress
• Experience administering and/or building Windows Server 2012(R2), Active Directory, clustering and IIS
• Windows automation experience (PowerShell (DSC), Puppet, Ansible, Salt).
• OpenStack or AWS experience
• Large scale infrastructure support
• Working in an agile environment with exposure to tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Experience with build tools such as Maven
• Experience with log aggregation tools such as GrayLog
• Experience with NodeJS applications and tools

Primary Responsibilities

• Automated platform server preparation and build
• Configuration management of Kurtosys products
• Management and execution of change requests
• Server maintenance and software upgrades
• DNS configuration and web proxy management
• sFTP services
• Operating system and application server maintenance, patching and optimization
• Monitoring, log collection and reporting
• Hardware and software inventory

Teamwork

• The Automation team is involved in the setup and deployments of all aspects of infrastructure build related to running and maintaining and deploying servers and Linux/Windows operating systems. They work with server configuration for running our software or 3rd party software.
• In addition to the build and deployment processes the Automation team is actively involved in automation using the orchestration tools listed above. The key objectives lead to a requirement of the team to be able to standardize and improve the speed of response. Our intention is to enable others within our organization to self-serve in a secure and well managed environment.
• The Automation team is also focused on scaling our hosting and supporting Continuous Integration process.

Work Process

• The Automation team work on both routine and installation changes to our software code deployed on our servers both production and Development/UAT and others as well as project work We operate normal office hours with Level 2 support 24x7 for customer hosting where Level 2 is apparent network or hardware failure. Communication is via support system (Desk.com). Work is managed and monitored with:
• Desk.com for network related ticket resolution related to customer hosting and company issues
• Jira project work and internal group issue resolution

Qualifications

• College Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar technical discipline
• 7 years’ experience in large scale server farms involving several offices and data centers in different countries
• 2 years’ experience in Cloud Networking, specifically Open Stack and AWS
• 2 years’ experience with Puppet or Chef
• Confident and assertive communicator (Oral and Written) with good presentation skills
• Highly motivated individual with a proven ability to drive projects to a successful and timely conclusion.
• Ability to be flexible/adaptable in exercising judgment in a dynamic, matrix environment and to manage competing priorities.
