    Field Service Engineer, Materials & Minerals Division, Germiston

    Job Description

    Responsibilities

    • Carry out field installation, commissioning, repair and calibration of all past and present Thermo equipment and systems in any location including other countries
    • On site training of customers in the use and operation of Thermo equipment and software
    • Telephonic assistance to customers with problems
    • Be on standby when required
    • In house repairs to customer equipment where possible.
    • Preparation for field work including :
    • Familiarization with the job
    • Checking out/testing adequate spares
    • Liaising with the client
    • Promoting Thermo equipment whilst in the field and giving feedback to the Sales Department
    • Going to site with Sales Engineers to evaluate installation/application requirements
    • Installation of all equipment sold by Thermo if qualified to do so.
    • Commissioning ,and testing of Thermo equipment
    • Repairing , including fault diagnosis, replacing ( down to components on occasion) equipment, servicing and re-calibration of instruments on site
    • Completing adequate work reports to enable timeous invoicing of work
    • Ensuring company vehicle is maintained in good condition
    • Assisting the service manager in any other Thermo Fisher related request when needed

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience

    • Electronic Engineering Diploma or higher
    • 3 Years Laboratory Instrumentation
    • Able to work without supervision
    • Knowledge of Laboratory equipment
    • Customer Service Experience
    • Laboratory equipment background
    • Willing to work when and wherever necessary, for as long as necessary to complete the job in hand
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Computer literate
    • Able to install and setup computer hardware and software
    • Drivers license
    • IND-EMEA.
