    SHE Officer

    Job Description

    ROLE SUMMARY:

    Assist in managing and controlling activities of the SHE program by implementing systems, policies, procedures and practices in compliance with local legislation and corporate policy.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    SHE SYSTEM COMPLIANCE:

    • Ensure development, implementation and compliance with SHE management system by
    • Developing site SHE policies and procedures with guidelines from corporate standards, ISO and national and municipal laws and by-laws.
    • Development and implementation of management auditing system (external and internal), monitoring, recording and reporting progress throughout the plant.
    • Participating together with the medical personnel in implementing remedial action plans aimed at improving health hazard within the factory.
    • Conduct environmental, ergonomic and industrial hygiene assessments and monitoring of the SHE management Systems.
    • Assisting with the compilation of SWP and conducting Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk assessment surveys and processes Hazard Analysis.
    • Responsible for the development of internal SHE compliance system, methodologies including those associated with identifying and elimination of process and plant SHE hazards through regular risk assessments e.g. HAZOP, pre- and post-commissioning.
    • Conduct and participate in incident investigation, recording and make a recommendation.
    • Responsible for reporting incidents to local government and Corporate.

    TRAINING:

    • Creating awareness on S/H/E management System, legislation, SCJ Corporate and NOSA requirements through the distribution of literature, training and posters.
    • Driving continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Identify production variances and take the required corrective action to eliminate them.
    • Initiate new programs on minimizing cost/waste.

    REPORTS:

    • Assist in developing technical, statistical performance and system reports indicating the plant SHE performance.

    BUDGET CONTROL:

    • Assist in controlling the expenditure within the limitation of the SHE budget for Industrial hygiene, inspection, medical services, training, literature and fire prevention.

    Position Requirements

    • Minimum Bachelor/BCOM Degree in chemistry/engineering or related field.
    • Thorough knowledge of the OHSAct, its regulation and other SA legislation.
    • S/H/E knowledge in a chemical related workplace
    • Occupational hygiene knowledge.
    • Knowledge of Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
    • NOSA advanced training courses.
