We're looking for a solid Java developer to join our technology team ASAP!

Eazi.com is a brand new internet startup company that launched in January 2017 and is based in the northern suburbs of Cape Town.

Our founders started out with the simple, but much needed goal of making buying and selling property cheaper, simpler and more efficient than it currently is. In its simplest form, you can literally buy or sell property on our online platform just using your phone/laptop, but we also provide the necessary support functions to help our clients through the process. And its been a hit: after just a few weeks in operation we've already sold a number of homes despite a low key launch and we're now growing quickly.

But we've only just begun and making the home transfer process more efficient requires automation, which is where you come in...

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the CTO, you will be be responsible for the development of our new platform - an AWS cloud-based platform and web front-end with multiple integration points to other systems

You’ll be involved in all phases of the development lifecycle from concept through build and testing. Your Java skills must be sharp as you will be developing the front end in Java jsps & javascript and the backend on java beans / mysql. Being part of a startup ensures exposure to a wide variety of technologies and roles, and willingness to enquire and learn quickly is therefore essential.

Apart from being a quick learner and technically sharp, you should also have the mind of a budding entrepreneur and be able to contribute to the growth of the product, suggesting improvements and new functionality where you think they would be useful as well as providing useful useful critique to existing ones.

• Understanding of best practice coding techniques and software architectures but in the context of a startup environment

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

• Thorough understanding of web fundamentals
• 2+ years in Java including JSP and servlets
• Strong relational database experience (MySQL)
• Web front-end skills like javascript, AJAX and CSS

Advantageous:

• B.Sc OR equivalent tertiary education in computer science
• Understanding of the AWS stack especially elastic beanstalk and the AWS
• Web services (incl. restful)
