    Job Description

    • Ebay Classifieds Group (eCG) is looking for a passionate and highly collaborative Ad Operations manager as independent consultant/contractor to join our growing team, based in Cape Town. We are looking for critical thinkers and innovators to help us expand our footprint in the dynamic and dramatically growing consumer-to-consumer/peer-to-peer, local commerce transaction classifieds businesses in Mexico and South Africa.
    • As part of Ebay Classified Emerging Market’s team, you will be a part of a growing, global culture. You will partner with cross-functional teams of designers, product managers, developers and advertiser sales teams to manage the engine that runs all advertising revenue (DoubleClick for Publishers).
    • As an Ad Operations manager in ECG’s Emerging Markets team, you will be in the unique position to cooperate with the local sales teams to identify opportunities. You will work closely with the locally based Yield Manager and will be aligning with a global Product & Development team. You will make sure that our advertising engine is running perfectly and that we are proactively measuring our performance across different platforms by improving tag implementation and running insightful reports.
    • You already have a strong knowledge of multiple advertising technologies and are eager to apply this to the classifieds business. You are technically capable to work closely with developers to ensure your desired tag implementations are executed. A close collaboration with product managers helps you understand the business requirements of balancing UX and advertising revenue. You are able to provide business insights on each ad position and have the ability to identify performance gaps through insightful reports.
    • You will work closely with a global team of Product Managers, Analytics, Engineers and local sales & yield teams which are based in San Francisco, Mexico City, Cape Town and Shanghai.

    • You are confident to escalate and liaise with a Technical Support consultant & Yield manager to build new advertising initiatives.
    • Have a good technical knowledge and natural curiosity towards industry tech changes, i.e. header bidding, data management platform.
    • Knowledge of the programmatic advertising landscape buy-side and sell-side
    • Hands-on ownership of the DoubleClick for Publishers, AdSense and ADX accounts of the eBay Classifieds Emerging Markets group.
    • Experience in providing advanced reporting DoubleClick for Publishers, AdExchange and AdSense
    • Be point of escalation to conduct ad loading troubleshooting in cooperation with Campaign Manager
    • Provide first-level support to Campaign Manager(s) for day to day questions
    • Manage a best-practise ad tag set-up for DFP and AdSense and continuously look for measurability improvements
    • Be on top of ad server developments, inform local sales and global product team about best practise
    • Flag ad serving issues to Yield manager to optimize ad serving process and generate revenue
    • Be point of contact for AdOps related issues with third parties and tech provider
    • Manage ad server set-up, which includes but is not limited to finding the right tag set-up and making sure the right audience data is collected

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years’ experience working in DoubleClick for Publishers, Google AdExchange and/or AdSense.
    • Fluent in English writing and speaking. Speaking Spanish and Chinese not requirements but is a plus
    • Experience in ad tech, Trading Desk, DSP, DFP, DMP, Ad Exchange, Private Market Place and campaign management
    • Experience using a web debugger tool like Fiddler, Charles or Chrome to analyse ad requests
    • Experience in media, eCommerce, technology industries is a plus
    • Experience in working with cross-cultural, global teams and flexibility to work together with colleagues in different time zones a plus
    • Strong communication skills, business sense, technical knowledge, and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, ambiguous and fast-paced environment
    • Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Marketing/Online, MBA, Computer Science or Integrated Marketing Communications a plus.
