National Transport Manager at WastePlan

Job Description

• Provide strategic leadership to the National Transport Department
• Short, medium and long-term planning
• Compiling of transport budgets for each WastePlan company
• Efficient management of all personnel within the department
• Implementation of effective fleet asset management systems
• Daily management and control of all transport related expenses
• Responsible for the on-time completion of all reports required
• Timeous communication to all role players within and outside the company
• Manage the Residential and Commercial Transport departments
• Liaise with staff in regard collections
• Monitor the production of employees wrt collections and deliveries
• Responsible for efficient utilization of the fleet
• Managing of Fuel efficiencies (km per liter)
• Maximizing collection efficiencies (kg per liter)
• Ensure drivers receive training on efficient and defensive driving skills
• Periodically evaluate routes as per contract
• Evaluation of routes to ensure productivity and efficiency
• New Routes – compile new routes as per contracts
• Adhere to all ad-hoc requests regarding collections
• Manage the Transport Maintenance managers - Nationally
• Ensure all vehicles are maintained according to program
• Ensure all receptacles (cages, bins, trailers) are maintained
• Proper management of fuel and tyres expenditure
• Responsible for dealing with all “break-downs”
• Manage the Transport Admin Assistants - Nationally
• Ensure all vehicles undergo COF and are licensed
• Administration of all fines

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION

• Minimum Matric. A relevant Diploma or Degree will be an advantage
• Minimum 10 years working experience in a similar role
• Relevant qualifications and experience, knowledge and skills
• Valid Code 8 Driver’s License and own reliable transport essential
• Must be professional and have excellent communications skills
