• PURPOSE:  To champion SC Sustainability programme for Exxaro. To provide strategic direction regarding sustainable supplier engagement, sustainable procurement/sourcing and enterprise and supplier development for Exxaro supply chain organization to support Exxaro's current and long-term business
• MAJOR CHALLENGES: Influencing and obtaining buy-in from Exxaro stakeholders to ensure improvement, compliance and achievement of targets. Stakeholder collaboration. SC Sustainability data integrity. Involvement with External organisations where different stakeholders (government, business, industry) are influencing direction, targets etc. on a continuous basis with limited guidance on best practices execution. Aligning capital projects with SC sustainability goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree ( Hons) ( Relevant) - (Essential/Minimum)
• Management Development Programme - (Essential/Minimum)
• Master of Business Administration - (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE:

• 10 years SCM operation and management and 3 years strategic sustainability exposure. (Essential/Minimum)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Reputable Supply Chain Professional Association /Body (Recommendable/ Desirable)
• Best Practice and Knowledge Management
•  Champion and implement sustainable supply chain strategy for Exxaro.
•  Assess SC Sustainability operations to ensure Exxaro receives maximum benefit and value from SC Sustainability.
•  Keep abreast of new leading practices, software developments and technologies in sustainable supplier engagement, sustainable procurement/sourcing and enterprise and supplier development.
•  Ensure implementation of process and system enhancements to continuously improve operations within SC Sustainability.
•  Oversee, monitor and provide subject matter expertise to projects relating to or impacting SC Sustainability.

Business Performance and Operations

•  Identify SC Sustainability reporting needs and validate against best practice framework for Performance Management Reporting process.
•  Manage SC Sustainability execution and establish synergies within SCM environment i.t.o. sustainable supplier engagement, sustainable procurement/sourcing and enterprise and supplier development.
•  Recognise and communicate potential risks/issues.
•  Review progress and utilize COE/BU contribution in achieving results

Business Strategy and Development

•  Provide SC Sustainability input into overall SCM strategy.
•  Plan and execute a business strategy for Exxaro SC Sustainability (i.e. sustainable supplier engagement, sustainable procurement/sourcing and enterprise and supplier development).
•  Ensure Sustainability strategy and related initiatives are integrated and aligned with Exxaro group strategy and appropriate business plans.
•  Provide input re: SC Sustainability into Strategic Sourcing capability regarding Commodity Portfolio Priorities.
•  Oversee and monitor delivery and performance of Exxaro's SCM Sustainability capability across SCM function.

Centre of Excellence

•  Lead Supply Chain Sustainability Centre of Excellence.
•  Develop and implement capabilities for growing SC sustainability talent and initiatives through focused stakeholder dialogues and sharing of best practices.
• Compliance, Governance and Assurance
•  Develop and implement SC Sustainability policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
•  Communicate and roll-out SC Sustainability policies to Exxaro Community.
•  Work with SCM Stakeholders to ensure policies, procedures, standards and guidelines are developed in line with relevant Org. requirements.
•  Interpret SC Sustainability legislative and corporate governance requirements to assess/manage risk and consequences of non-compliance.
•  Ensure integrity of SC Sustainability information and reporting.

Customer and Client Relationship Management

•  Provide SC Sustainability input to supplier /stakeholder relationship management initiatives and strategies.
•  Account for sustainable supplier engagement elements/goals, baselines, targets, gaps, and strategies. Provide specialist support to SC Sustainability external and internal stakeholders.
•  Manage internal and external relations including interface with external providers.
•  Establish and maintain strategic relations with stakeholders to ensure SCM Sustainability effectiveness.

Functional Excellence

• Develop and maintain sub functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end-to-end processes, tools, templates etc. and enforce group-wide adherence to these.
• Standardise, simplify and speed-up functional processes, eliminate duplication/bureaucracy.
• Oversee and monitor functional activities at operations.
• Establish functional/cross-functional forums, COPs etc. to ensure functional alignment.

Functional Management

• Financial management: Manage sub function’s budget (CC/BUs). Assist to forecast/recover costs.
• Strategic alignment/planning: Communicate Exxaro SCM sustainability strategy to function. Assist in setting functional direction, develop functional strategic plan aligned to, and driving, Exxaro’s vision/purpose, strategy, goals, priorities, incl aligning functional work/resources. Define and reinforce the link between Exxaro, functional, operational goals and individual outputs, measures, rewards.
• Performance management: Ensure sustainability strategic plan implemented through disciplined execution processes, track implementation, and provide feedback to executive. Coordinate functional/cross-functional activities to ensure strategic alignment.
• Engagement/communication: Communicate and engage functional employees, incl virtuals. Engage with executives, operations and cross-functionally with peers. Represent the function/Exxaro externally, as required.
• Governance: Ensure function adheres to Exxaro governance, policies, standards, statutory and legal compliance. Entrench a culture of discipline

• Exxaro culture/functional climate: Uphold the Exxaro culture and values within the function. Foster effective teamwork and unity.
