Job description

Minimum Requirements

• 6 years’ experience in mechanical product development for the aviation or defence industry.
• Experience in all aspects of product development, including concept design, qualification and production data packs.
• Experience in the development of systems comprising mechanical and electronic components.
• 2 years’ experience in CAD using Solid works advanced assembly modelling.
• Experience in design for CNC manufacturing and sheet metal manufacturing.
• Experience in configuration management.
• BSc (Eng) Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Advantageous

• Aircraft Airframe modelling.
• CAD data management.
• Composite materials.
• Knowledge of mechanical workshops and suppliers in the Western Cape.
• Computational flow simulation.

Competencies/Skills

• Experience in a military environment will be an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Problem solving in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Self-starter
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Attention to detail and accuracy

Key responsibilities

• Capture airframe design in Solid Works,
• Interact with Airframe Manufacturer,
• Manage Data packs
• Adhere to internal processes
