Network Specialist - Technology Infrastructure at Discovery Limited

Job description

Key Purpose

This Position falls within the Technical Infrastructure department and reports to the network manager. The Network Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining Discovery Holdings’ LAN and WAN.

Key Areas of Responsibility

The successful candidate will be required to perform on but not limited to the following key outputs:

• Design, implementation and maintenance of all LAN services including escalation to local vendors.
• Design, implementation and maintenance of all WAN services including escalation to local and international Telco’s
• Design, implementation and maintenance of Cisco routers and switches both on the LAN and Wan infrastructure
• Responsible for network resilience and testing of fail over capabilities to disaster recovery site.
• Manage QoS in the environment
• Implement and maintain BGP , OSPF and EIGRP
• Implement Design and Maintain MPLS L2 and L3
• Documentation of technical specifications and DR requirements
• Ensure a project management approach to all activities is maintained
• Plan design, implementation and support of new Cisco Technologies
• Implementation and maintenance of Cisco Prime Infrastructure
• Produce monthly reports which includes availability and capacity
• Be available for standby and weekend change control window
• Server installations and maintenance
• Support monitoring and troubleshooting of the above environments. Server installations and maintenance
• Support WIFI networks and have a clear understanding of the various technologies associated with Wireless like survey , signal analysis and AP/WLC configurations
• A good conception understanding of Software Defined Networking

Education & Experience

The successful candidate must hold the following qualifications and have the following experience:

• A Valid CISCO CCNP
• + 7 years and more experience in Cisco
• +5 years on other Core technologies (Microsoft, Linux, )
• Routing and Switching experience
• Strong QoS experience
• Strong MPLS skills and overall Routing Experience
• Solid VOIP Skills Some Firewall Experience – limited to 2 years
• Must have worked with a fairly large Infrastructure or Corporate (500 Users Plus)
