Superintendent at The South African Breweries (SAB)

Job description

The key purpose of the role is to ensure optimum utilisation of plant, raw materials and people, to produce quality products which meet customer requirements and complies with legislation.

Key responsibilities:

• Inspection and Coding Process Areas
• Implement the Asset Management strategy
• Contribute to the site development plan and advise on asset care implications
• Source BEE opportunities for asset care delivery
• Ensure post Capin installation ownership
• Co-ordinate the involvement with Planned Maintenance Controllers in developing schedules of new and old equipment
• Effectively trouble-shoot and/ or lead teams to solve any mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, quality and process related problems that may occur
• Problem solving
• Ensure that SPP delivers the required improvements/ supply by interacting with Commercial, Suppliers and QA
• Safety and Housekeeping
• Maintain safe, healthy and risk free working environment
• Ensure that Safety and Housekeeping receive the appropriate focus through regular audits and corrective improvements
• Human Resources
• Lead the Washer and Labeller Engineering team in a manner that engenders ownership empowerment and team interaction
• Lead the development of the Washer and Labeller Engineering team goals and ensure the delivery of performance management
• Ensure the training and development as well as assessments of the Team
• Manage the SAP System integrity and optimal usage

Competency requirements:

• Minimum Mechanical Engineering Degree or BTech Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5 Years’ experience within a SAB packaging environment
• PC Literacy at appropriate level
• Good understanding of WCM, especially World Class Maintenance principles
• Good knowledge and understanding of SAP, particularly relating to maintenance –
• In-depth understanding of Packaging and Packaging equipment
• Understanding of the interaction between Production and Engineering
• Management skills - planning, coordinating, leading, etc.
• People management - conflict handling, team coaching, etc.
• Ability to interact confidently with others on all levels (i.e. suppliers, commercial, internal stakeholders)
• Good interpersonal skills
• Team player
