    Business Executive

    Job description

    Requirement Overview

    Responsible for overall leadership of the Business Unit at strategic level. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that institutions in the public sector are audited effectively through the main audit cycles i.e. PFMA and/or MFMA. Furthermore, the role entails the management of the Business Unit finances, processes, people and product issues in line with the Business Unit strategic objectives. This position reports to a Corporate Executive.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Business unit strategic functions
    • Responsible for the strategic direction of the Business Unit in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
    • Drives and champions the delivery of the strategic objectives (BSC commitments) at business unit level.
    • Product management
    • Effective communication of product information through verbal and non-verbal audit/non-audit reporting.
    • Ensure quality delivery of critical AGSA reports such as General, audit and sector reports.
    • Monitor the implementation of the audit strategy
    • Manage regularity audits in terms of the Constitution.
    • Ensure that audit cycles adhere and comply with statutory and legislative deadlines
    • Conduct risk assessments to ensure that all risks relating to audits are properly documented, managed and addressed in the audit procedures.
    • Ensure effective management of CWC.
    • Implement proper quality assurance in the business unit and ensure that audits are performed in accordance with quality standards.
    • Establish and maintain an effective MIS for the audits.
    • Ensure continuous refinement of audit focus areas and audit approach to achieve value for money for the auditees.
    • Stakeholder management
    • Drive the strategic initiative of visibility through effective external engagements.
    • Regular impact-driven interactions with leadership of government, including Parliament, auditees and other relevant key stakeholders.
    • Interact with SCOPA and relevant committees regarding briefings on audit reports / outcomes.
    • Regular interactions and partnerships with private audit firms to ensure contracted audits are aligned and seamless with AGSA audit processes.
    • Continuously establish, develop, strengthen and maintain a broad network of contacts and professional relationships with external stakeholders who can contribute to the attainment of AGSA’s goals.
    • Collaborate and foster win-win relationships and building partnerships with the goal to win cooperation from stakeholders in order to advance the AGSA’s goals.
    • People management
    • Drive the strategic initiative of visibility through effective external engagements.
    • Regular impact-driven interactions with leadership of government, including Parliament, auditees and other relevant key stakeholders.
    • Interact with SCOPA and relevant committees regarding briefings on audit reports / outcomes.

    • Consistently demonstrates decisive and firm leadership by taking charge of situations; assuming accountability and authority even under difficult circumstances
    • Fosters an environment that is conducive to effective team functioning.
    • Sets a good example by personally modelling desired behaviour (living the AGSA Values)
    • Financial management
    • Execute BU deliverables economically, efficiently and effectively in terms of recoverability and productivity.
    • Ensure effective financial management of CWC.
    • Implement interventions to collect debt and improve cash flow.
    • Effective management of the BU budget.
    • Ad-hoc duties

     

    • Perform and/or manage other projects, tasks and assignments not stipulated on the Job description as and when required

    Skills, Experience & Education

    • Formal Education
    • CA(SA) or RGA/ACCA
    • Knowledge
    • Public sector Auditing

    Experience

    3 - 5 years in a senior management role
