    Territory Sales Manager

    Job description

    OVERVIEW

    The position will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa. A territory based role that will include monthly travel to other countries as required.   The position will require some travel but will predominantly be home based.

    Reporting directly to the Regional Director this is an external sales commercial and marketing role. Fundamentally responsible for a particular territory with the main aim of improving turnover and achieving an agreed annual invoice sales target in that territory.

    Responsible for project and customer management within the proposed territory. To build a strong project backlog and manage each project to ensure results. To follow up on International project and customer leads and report the information back to the company.

    JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • To ensure appropriate technical and marketing support to the client’s distributing partners.
    • To work in partnership with the local trading partners to ensure that we have good co-operation and are maximising opportunities by using individual and company strengths and resources appropriately.
    • Daily customer calls to local architects, engineers and designers in each region to present product samples and marketing literature and to generally raise brand awareness.
    • Organising appropriate marketing activities, seminars and customer hospitality to build a strong customer database and relationships at all levels.
    • Have regular liaison with Dubai office, send weekly reports and ensure one monthly visit to discuss strategy and operations.
    • Working as an important member within a small, focussed and driven team requires a flexible approach to the role and responsibilities as there will be times that require tasks to be completed above and beyond the set boundaries of the position.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Achieve agreed Annual invoice Sales Target
    • Territory Activity Report to be completed weekly
    • Promotion client’s products and branch resources
    • Technical support for local trading partners
    • Sales support for local trading partners
    • Project Database management and maintenance
    • Customer Database management and maintenance
    • Co‐ordination of internal and external training programs
    • Seminars – Promotion and organisation
    • Customer Hospitality – As required and approved by Regional Director

    PERSONAL SKILLS

    • A driven and creative, self motivated professional that has good communication and presentation skills with the confidence to present ideas and solutions to customers.
    • They should be emotionally stable, confident, personable and well presented
    • Able to conduct themselves in a professional manner and have the personal communication skills required to relate information clearly across a multitude of cultures and ensure that they can relay their message and overcome language barriers.
    • A proven track record within commercial sales is a must and ideally they should be Design or architecturally educated with related qualifications, with a keen eye for detail.
    • Commercially minded they should have an ability to think creatively and have confidence to promote new ideas and execute them.
    • The person should be organised, accurate and be able to multitask efficiently with a fastidious approach to meeting deadlines at any cost.
    • This person will need to have an outstanding work ethic and commitment to executing tasks within a given timescale to a high standard.
    • They will need to be able to think laterally and commercially to maximise time and work as part of a team.
