    Sales Engineer

    Job description

    Looking for a Sales Engineer with background in Electrical Power systems and having a technical knowledge in Relays & Automation to be based in South Africa. This post requires travel up to 50% of the time.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Introduce SEL products and services to new and existing customers through visits, demonstrations, training courses, and telecommunications contact.
    • Assist customers with purchase order preparation by providing SEL product configuration, Engineering Services' work scope, and selling price information.
    • Develop 12-month product order forecasts on a quarterly basis.
    • Plan and execute strategies to achieve breakthrough orders with un-served customers.
    • Identify and perform activities to meet/exceed forecasted orders.
    • Deliver customer service and informal training through telecommunications contact and site visits.
    • Contribute to product specifications and literature.
    • Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities, industry technical meetings, and conferences.
    • Maintain and enhance knowledge of all SEL products.
    • Provide training for customers and SEL personnel.
    • Maintain customer database for customer sales and application information.
    • Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve marketing, sales, and engineering quality processes.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • 3+ Years of sales into the power systems industry and must include Automation & Protection systems
    • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
    • Experience in technical marketing and/or sales
    • Excellent technical training skills
    • Ability to travel 50% of your time
    • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
    • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
    • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
    • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
    • Negative drug test result(s)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience using SEL products
    • Strong English reading and writing skills desired
