    About The Opportunity

    The South Africa operation provides strategic communications, public affairs and capital markets advice to a number of the country’s leading companies and global multinationals. In an increasingly complex world with a variety of communication platforms and governance prescripts, FTI South Africa’s team helps its clients navigate this environment.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the acise count direction of local and international clients across the communications disciples. You will manage client relationships, acting as the day-to-day account lead, develop strategies and oversee execution through the organisation and delegation of the internal team. The role also encompasses delivery of messaging, content development, project management, media relations, stakeholder communications and issues management.

    Responsibilities

    Deliver to Clients

    • Support/lead on a number of programmes, including both retained and project work, ensuring that client programmes are agreed and project plans are implemented
    • Own client relationships with limited senior supervision; creatively prepare and deliver the client programme
    • Provide strategic advice to a portfolio of clients, manage accounts on a day-to-day basis and develop excellent relationships with clients. Focus on client retention through exemplary service delivery
    • Generate supportive media coverage for clients by drafting press releases and arranging client events
    • Anticipate potentially difficult situations and evaluate and advon alternative solutions with senior executives

    Build the Business

    • Seek out new business leads and help convert them into profitable clients
    • Work alongside other senior members of the team on business development activities such as pitch preparation and delivery
    • Help to expand the South Africa portfolio through business with existing clients and the broader FTI group
    • Proactively network with media contacts and industry analysts, as well as potential clients

    Team Involvement

    • Project line management for the team working on your clients
    • Share knowledge and mentor junior team members
    • Develop relationships with other teams within Strategic Communications and FTI

    Required Skills

    • Tertiary education in political science, communications, finance or law
    • Relevant Communications, Investor Relations or PR experience either in-house or agency side
    • Proven track record in delivering successful programmes for clients
    • Ability to identify new business opportunities
    • Strong understanding of the media & how it operates
    • Understanding of how government and the legislative operate
    • Superior writing skills
    • Excellent contacts in the industry & government or a desire to develop them

    Preferred Skills

    • Ability to build strong rapport/relationships at all levels within FTI and client organisations
    • Displays gravitas, confidence and maturity
    • Ability to take the lead in team meetings
    • Intellectually strong, able to demonstrate an ability to deal with highly complex issues.
    • Takes a pragmatic and ‘can do’ approach
    • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
    • Demonstrates energy and a desire to provide exceptional client service
    • Excellent team player with a positive and collegial focus
    • Experience of working in Financial and Corporate communications
    • Research and media or consulting background
    • Digital experience is preferred but not a requirement
