PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION

• As our Tech Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and driving innovation.
• Your role will involve a combination of hands-on technical support, service management and project  management tasks to deliver exceptional results, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of the company's technology systems.
• This is a high-impact role where you'll make a real difference. Local travel within South Africa may be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Delivery Management

• Responsible for day-to-day IT services, ensuring business systems are operating effectively.
• Implement infrastructure to support business needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Retail store lifecycle projects for new openings, remodels and closures, as well as events.
• Monitor the organization's office and retail infrastructure, managing network outages with the global support teams to minimize downtime and disruption to business.

Business Analysis

• Ensure that the appropriate mix of people, processes, and technology are in place to provide value.
• Identify, support and drive IT innovations and standard, best practice IT solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for IT infrastructure improvements  to enhance operational efficiency.
• Investigate operational needs and problems, and opportunities, contributing to the 
• recommendation of improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or  changed processes and organization.

Service Level Management

• Monitor service delivery, performance metrics and liaise with managers and customers to ensure that service level agreements are not breached without the stakeholders being given the opportunity of planning for a deterioration in service.
• Follow-up to ensure that end-user IT requirements or issues are resolved promptly for optimal performance.

Stakeholder and Vendor Management

• Manages internal and external stakeholders through appropriate communication and reporting.
• Manage external vendor and service provider relationships.

Release and Deployment

• Collaborate with internal teams to identify IT requirements for upcoming projects and provide technical expertise during project planning and execution.
• Execution of global infrastructure rollouts in partnership with the functional infra-areas to completion so that expected business benefits are realized.
• May carry out early life support activities such as providing support advice to initial users.

Service Acceptance

• Engage with project management to confirm that products developed meet the service acceptance 
• criteria and are to the required standard. 
• Feed into the change management processes.

People / Resource Management

• Ensure appropriate leadership skills are present through creating a motivational and supportive work environment in which employees are coached, trained and provided with career opportunities through development.
• Allocate tasks to the respective team members considering experience, complexity, workload, and  organizational efficiency.
• Continuously monitor and evaluate team workload and organizational efficiency with the support of 
• IT systems, data analysis and team feedback, making appropriate changes to meet business needs.
• May be involved and provide input on hiring decisions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to translate business requirements into cost efficient IT solutions.
• Experience in managing and leading small/medium sized IT projects.
• Technical proficiency and awareness.
• Familiarity with Agile / ITIL framework and IT service management principles.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and virtualization technologies

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years’ experience in ITSM with at least 2 years of experience in a team management role.
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience with retail sales tech and project delivery in a corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure operations, service management, networking, 
• hardware/software and security best practices.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Understanding of different cultures, and ability to work with people from other functions/markets.

• Assist management in day-to-day store maintenance while providing excellent service and observing and maintaining all store policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Ensures the highest level of adidas service is given to each customer.
• As needed, completes any regular sales transactions involving cash, credit, checks, etc.
• Involved indirectly with ticketing of products as well as checking paperwork against items received.
• Assists in product flow from stockroom to sales floor on a fill-in basis.
• Assists in the development of displays of merchandise or follow suggestions or schedules provided by the store management team.
• Attain proficiency with the point-of-sale system by acquiring system utilization skills. Ensure integrity is maintained through attention to policy and procedure.
• Uses selling techniques such as add on sales and describing technical information to customers to enhance salesmanship and reach store and position sales goals.
• Greets customers in the store and assists them in finding the right product. Occasionally, serves primarily as a Greeter at the front door during busy workdays.
• Maintaining general housekeeping standards (Including cleaning of the store)
• Safekeeping of Company assets
• Loss prevention, monitoring sales floor and reporting any suspicious activity and follow security procedures/ SLAP.
• Ensure they take part in in-store training or digital training provided by the company (Atticus/AREA) to ensure they have product knowledge and role best practice.
• Familiarize themselves with Power BI tools to have more understanding of store performance, best sellers / blackhole product.

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

• This role drives workforce tool implementation, scheduling efficiency, and labor productivity improvements across the Own Retail channel while supporting the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of retail operational standards, tools, compliance, and best practices.
• It ensures aligned execution of global and EM retail programs, BOH operational excellence, and a consistent mono-branded experience through strong project management, training, and data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Workforce Optimization programs, including payroll planning, labour forecasting, and scheduling efficiency.
• Drive implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of workforce management tools across Own Retail.
• Lead strategic headcount planning to ensure the right staffing levels across departments.
• Provide training, coaching, and capability building to ensure effective use of workforce tools and processes.
• Analyse payroll, productivity, and scheduling data to generate actionable insights and improvement plans.
• Drive process excellence initiatives to improve workforce efficiency and reduce operational costs.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Retail Operations, and Cluster teams to optimize labour deployment and support business needs.
• Manage vendor relationships and support enhancements to workforce systems and digital tools.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of retail operational standards, tools, and compliance processes.
• Lead retail operations projects end-to-end, from assessment and planning to implementation and measurement.
• Equip clusters with updated operational guidelines, tools, training materials, and compliance documentation.
• Monitor operational excellence initiatives using data-driven KPIs and ensure consistent adoption across markets.
• Serve as the Emerging Markets expert for Retail Operations Excellence, promoting best-practice sharing and cross-market alignment.
• Drive BOH operational excellence, including inventory accuracy, stockroom standards, deliveries, replenishment, and digital enablers (RFID, BINS).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Expertise in retail operations, process improvement, and workforce management
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills

• Excellent planning, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
• Innovative mindset with proven adoption of new tools and processes
• Advanced MS Office proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Project); MS Access a plus
• Fluent in English; additional languages an advantage

Requisite Education & Experience

• Master’s in business administration degree in Retail, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field is desirable.
• Minimum 4–5 years of retail operations experience, ideally with workforce optimization exposure.
• 5+ years Retail Store Operations experience strongly preferred.
• Experience leading change, training, and influencing cross-functional teams.
• Experience in Sports / Fashion / FMCG industries preferred.
• Franchise retail knowledge a plus.
• Retail Store Management experience is an advantage.
