    Printers Mechanic

    Job Description    

    • The Novus Print division has a proud legacy, which includes the highest level of manufacturing excellence, first mover in new technology and solutions-orientated offerings.     • Novus Print Paarden Eiland is seeking to appoint a Printers Mechanic within the Technical and Engineering department to assess the maintenance and mechanical requirements of jobs allocated and to execute planned and ad hoc mechanical maintenance. The successful incumbent will report to the Workshop Foreman.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Preventative maintenance - lubrication, service checks, cleaning 
    • Maintenance of production equipment 
    • Assessing maintenance or breakdown requirements - liaise with maintenance planner
    • Compliance to the OHS Act by applying safe work practices 
    • Assist Maintenance Technicians when required 
    • Assist when required with project specific maintenance and installations as part of the project team
    • Monitor and ensure safety devices are all functioning fully after completion of maintenance or ad hoc jobs
    • Provide the required feedback into the computerised job card system 

    Educational Requirements    

    • N4 Certificate
    • Trade test as printers mechanic, fitter and turner or other relevant trade 

    Experience Requirements    

    • 3-5 years experience in a mechanical and maintenance environment working within a large machinery and production environment over and above
    • Knowledge of fault finding and repairs on hydraulic and pneumatic equipment 
    • Knowledge on maintenance and fault finding on high speed production equipment
    • Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety standards 
    • Knowledge of printing environment would be an advantage

    Pre-Press Operator

    Job Description    

    • Novus Print Gauteng, a division of Novus Holdings, is currently seeking to appoint a Pre-Press Operator in our Hybrid (Heatset and Coldset) Pre-Press department, the position will be reporting to the Pre-Press Manager. The position requires a willingness to work shifts, public holidays, and the occasional overtime.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Management of the digital workflow process of material received from clients.
    • Effective communication and interaction with clients and with the relevant production departments.
    • Ensure quality standards are adhered to, together with accurate record keeping.
    • Perform troubleshooting and fault finding on Pre-press equipment and machinery.
    • Adhere to all routine operator maintenance procedures on all Pre-press equipment and machinery.
    • Delivery of quality plates on time and in full to the Press department.

    Skills and Competencies    

    • Knowledge of artwork checks and processing, for the various print production.
    • Experience with working in Acrobat and knowledge of some design software.
    • Knowledge of Pre-press workflow processes, (Kodak Workshop, Preps Imposition and InSite software) or (Arkitex Client, Preps and Portal software). Knowledge of both will be to the applicant’s advantage.

    • Completing daily check sheets on Forklift equipment 
    • Receiving, transporting and loading of production material to prescribed procedures and standards
    • Reporting any faults on the forklift to the Supervisor 
    • Forklift certification per OHS standards

    Seasoned SQL / C# Developer

    Who are we looking for:

    • We have a fulltime vacancy for a seasoned Microsoft SQL / C# Specialist with at least 10 years’ experience with the implementation of BI Solutions for business problems through the design and development of ETL, databases and reports using SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS as well as C# scripting. Maintenance and expanding mission critical API integrations with external systems will be a key responsibility. The successful candidate will also play a very active role in advanced data analytics and the development of related proactive insights for the business and customers.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Maintenance and active monitoring of all active integrations which include, but not limited to POS, EDI, SFTP, REST, SOAP and other API integrations.

    • At least 10 years’ IT work experience in programming and/or systems This must include T-SQL, PL/ MS SQL, SSIS, SSRS, PowerBI.
    • At least 10 years’ experience in C# for data processing, custom functions and application integrations. Experience with SQL Assembly will be advantageous.

    Quality Assurance Technician - ITB

    Job Description    

    • ITB is a flexible plastic packaging manufacturer and part of the Novus Holdings Group. ITB produces an array packaging for the FMCG and food markets. Its products include retail bags, security bags, FFS food packaging, heavy duty sacks and carrier bags which are distributed across South Africa and abroad.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • To ensure that all products are manufactured to the highest standards of quality at every stage of production.
    • To maintain the Quality Management System at all times and isolate non-conformances.
    • To approve products at set up stage and during production as per job cards, artwork, master samples and customer supplied samples.
    • To maintain minimal downtime during the approval process.
    • To create and renew product master samples at various stages of production at the first run and when revisions have taken place.
    • To extract all quality record books and sheets for filing.
    • Controlling of non-conforming products by identifying and isolating non-conforming products from receipt of raw material, during production processes and through to the finished product.
    • To test products in the Laboratory and on production floor at every stage.
    • To retain history samples which are representative of the production run.
    • To comply with all ITB’s policies and procedures including but not limited to Health & Safety, General Workplace policies, Quality & Food packaging safety, standard operating procedure etc.

    Educational Requirements    

    • Have completed Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.

    Experience Requirements    

    • Have a knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality standards.
