PROJECT MANAGER – SPECIAL PROJECTS (PM)
The PM will be responsible for coordinating and managing special strategic projects, including but not limited to special delivery projects, new market launches, process improvement projects, and analytical investigations. To complete the projects successfully, the PM will independently drive the project from design and planning to implementation, and influence a wide range of stakeholders from different parts of the business.
A proven track record of successful process improvement projects to reduce time, effort and cost is a must. An ideal PM candidate will have an ability to drive complex projects end-to-end communicate in different levels, make data-driven decisions, and pay great attention to detail.
The position is located in Pretoria.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with management to set project strategy and objectives. Independently drive planning, scheduling, and implementing of project activities to meet these objectives. Track and drive the resolution of project issues.
- Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks, and track performance and time goals while maintaining project scope
- Work collaboratively with business leadership, internal business functions, developers, and external customers to meet project objectives
- Provide project status reports according to the information needs of the stakeholders, including the business management
- Identify improvement opportunities in business processes and functions, and propose improvement ideas to management
- Bridge both business and technology efforts with project management tools and best practices of both worlds.
Required Experience
- Graduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent
- 4+ years’ work experience as a project manager, preferably in an ICT environment.
- Thorough understanding of business integration, and project management tools and methodologies
- Track record of delivering successful projects from planning to implementation - on time and on the budget.
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter with a passion for independently driving projects. Experience of working under minimal supervision
- Ability to build great working relationships with customers, and colleagues at all levels
- Great communication skills, ranging from presentation skills to report writing
- Capability to work in detail oriented manner, with strong analytical, estimating and problem solving skills
- Ability to handle and track multiple projects simultaneously. Proven skill to effectively prioritise projects and manage changes in expectations and environment.
- Willingness to be hands-on in the business and dive deep into details;
- Motivation to continuously learn and expand your knowledge on all topics regarding e‑learning, the education environment and ICT innovation.
- Preferred experience
- Experience within the education and/or corporate training sector, especially within an e-learning environment is preferable.
- Wide-range technical understanding, especially with regards to e-learning (learning theories, online and blended learning, flipped classrooms, mobile learning, as well as an understanding of technical issues related to e-learning such as the need for high density Wi-Fi networks, Internet access, Firewalls, IP addresses and servers, etc. );
