    Procurement Manager

    Job description

    The successful candidate will need to provide clear direction and goals for the Procurement department within Group Five Housing to ensure sound Estimating and Procurement- best practices within the business unit;

    1. Estimating at Business Unit level:

    • Ensure viability of business unit by delivering effective Estimating service into business unit;
    • Ensure effective functioning of Estimating function by optimising utilisation all resources allocated to Estimating department;

    2. Procurement- / Buying, at Business Unit level:

    • Ensure viability of business unit by delivering effective Procurement service into business unit;
    • Ensure effective functioning of Procurement function by optimising utilisation of all resources allocated to Procurement- / Buying department;

    Qualifications

    • Have either a B. Tech. / B. Sc. in Quantity Surveying

    Experience

    • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Estimating and Quantity Surveying in Construction (Building and Housing) in South Africa and Overborder.
    • Ability to effectively manage the full Estimating and Buying (Procurement) function for the BU.
    • Extensive and in-depth knowledge of Quantity and Estimating practices

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Functional leadership within procurement department
    • Risk (commercial- and contractual) management within procurement department
    • Support of market intelligence gathering processes (commercial)
    • Client support (internal- / external)
    • Management and organisation of procurement department:
      • PRE-TENDER AWARD: ADJUDICATION OF COMMERCIAL OFFERS
      • POST-TENDER AWARD: RE-VALUATION OF COMMERCIAL AWARDS
      • POST-TENDER AWARD: HANDOVER PROCESS TO OPERATIONS
    • Management of required procurement- / estimating communication- / improvement processes in support of operational processes
      Effective utilisation of ccs – software package/ processes

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Proficiency in and working knowledge of CCS - programme
    • Sound financial knowledge
