    IT Support Technician and Facilities Manager

    Job description

    John Brown South Africa is seeking to appoint an IT Support Technician and Facilities Manager to join our dynamic media company. This position is based in Cape Town.

    IT Support Technician

    This role is dedicated to level 1-2 engineering support but is expected to provide end user support from Level 1- 3. This role is a mid-tier position between the specialized engineers like network, storage, applications and system and the IT Support staff. The role is responsible to close escalated tickets and own projects. This is our farm team / development team to eventually move into a specialized role.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • End user system uptime and local application availability
    • End user systems engineering, software package creation, etc.
    • Multi-level and priority Ticket remediation
    • Skills and knowledge development within a chosen area of expertise
    • Customer and stakeholder Service

    Technical Capabilities

    • PC (HP) laptop and desktop hardware support Apple hardware support
    • Microsoft OS support Mac OS support
    • End user System engineering
    • Strong working knowledge in VoIP telephony
    • Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS
    • Strong working knowledge of Active directory, file level security, desktop security and management
    • Strong working knowledge of our line-of-business apps including Microsoft Office 2010, Active Directory, Adobe Creative Suite, remote access VPN Support
    • MCTS, MCSA, A+, Network+, ACMT, Linux experience, MCSE
    • Ability to support L1-2 support requests in an area of expertise (network, storage or applications) Video editing suite support from hardware to applications to software tools leveraged by teams Video render-farm support and administration

    Facilities Management which include the following:

    • Security System
    • Access Control System, including locks
    • Air Conditioning system
    • New staff Inductions on the above systems
    • Electrical System (including the uninterrupted power supply)
    • All plumbing, fumigation, glass, carpentry, hygiene systems
    • Any contract with the landlord regarding services and maintenance
    • Any contract and management of 3rd party maintenance contractors
    • Managing the companies store rooms
    • Any other technical issues relating to the facilities maintenance
    • Generator refueling and start (once a week)
    • Ensure that the site complies with Occupational Health and Safety Act

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field.
    • Typically has 3 to 5 years of IT work experience in supporting desktop software and hardware products and problem solving/troubleshooting
    • PC, MAC hardware expertise
    • Focus on studio hardware, software, infrastructure and server applications
    • Understanding creative product creation work flows
    • Microsoft and Apple OS expertise
    • Scripting
    • MS Office application suite
    • Application delivery automation
    • Facilities/ Project management experience
