Ovivo is looking for a Senior Project Manager with sound commercial judgement and capability to keep high level perspective to lead the completion of our condensate polishing plant on Medupi Power Plant site in South Africa. Without being a technical specialist, the Project Manager should have experience with water treatment construction and must be capable and experienced with mechanical, electrical activities, planning, preparation and execution of the commissioning procedures. The project manager will report to the Vice President Major Projects. The project manager will be surrounded by a technical team including: commercial project manager, project planner, project accountant, site manager and FIDIC claim advisor.
Furthermore, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for, and should have the skills as presented in the following list to fulfill these responsibilities:
- Understand complex contractual requirements and historical of a project with 4 years of time extension
- Provide direction to project team to ensure the best work processes are implemented to lower our contractual exposure, protect our scope of work, maximize revenues and reduce risk (technical and commercial)
- Liaise with customer
- Monitor procurement strategy to maximize use of global agreements, take benefit of competition and reduce schedule and delivery exposure
- Managing Contract Variations to ensure no degradation of cash flow and OM
- Supervise issue management (identification, notification, documentation, negotiation). Implement and manage scope management, project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
- Evaluate, distribute and monitor the workload
- Review and categorize customer request. Communicate terms of execution and get customer approval before assignation
- With support of the site manager, implement and monitor cost control system (inventory, time and material works by subcontractors..)
- With support of the site manager, monitor productivity of subcontractors and Ovivo employees
- Review and follow-up on the project schedules and planning
- Attend to all site technical meeting and coordinate communication
- Prepare and negotiate change and variation orders
- Receive and prepare all contractual communications with customer and subcontractor
- Manage the project team
- Report to senior management
Required Skills/Experience:
- Familiar with Microsoft Project, Excel and comfortable in a highly computerized environment;
- Contract administration and project finance experience
- Productivity and business process oriented
Essentials
- Minimum ten years on construction project/contract management
- High level of English (written and spoken)
- Experience with FIDIC contracts
Education
- University degree in engineering and or equivalent

Located in Lephalale, full time, contractual 1 year renewable for 2 years
