    Description

    Job Purpose:

    Responsibilities

    Primarily working on origination, structuring and execution of Corporate finance transactions in SSA and in partnership with the Product, Industry, Risk and Business/ Coverage partners in the SSA Division.

    In particular, this position and responsibilities will include,but not be limited to:

     

    • Assisting Senior Transactors in the team in the origination and execution of Corporate Finance transactions in SSA in coordination with the respective coverage and product teams and independently leading transactions which are relatively less complex and not requiring oversight by senior members of the team;
    • On a day-to-day basis in conjunction with the EMEA Product and Industry partners, assisting in the end-to end co-ordination, structuring and execution of:
    • Infrastructure and Energy Finance (IEF) / Project Finance (PF) advisory transactions ;
    • Debt Capital Markets (DCM) Transactions ;
    • Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Transactions ;
    • Export and Agency Finance (EAF) Transactions.
    • Assisting in the development of new and innovative financing structures,
    • Assisting in the preparation of documentation for the purposes of obtaining internal credit and structuring approvals,
    • Undertaking extensive and detailed Financial Modelling that involves the following, and not limited to
    • Fixed income Analysis
    • Financial Planning
    • Research Methodology
    • Quantitative Investment Analysis
    • Portfolio Management

     

    Financial Engineering Direct Reporting Line:

    Direct Manager

    The position will report into the SSA Corporate Finance Head, based in South Africa, as the Direct Manager.

    SSA Division Corporate Finance Team

    • The SSA Corporate Finance team is responsible for the end-to-end Origination, Co-ordination, Structuring and Execution of Corporate Finance transactions in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. This covers the full spectrum of International and Domestic Corporate Finance Products and Services in approximately 38 presence and non-presence countries in SSA.
    • The SSA Corporate Finance team oversees the origination, structuring, execution and distribution of cross-border and domestic transactions for the SSA region by procuring investors in the form of international, regional and local financial institutions including banks, insurance companies, multilateral and bilateral financial institutions and other non-traditional investors.
    • On the coverage side, the SSA Corporate Finance team has close working relationships with the Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), Markets and Coverage Banking teams in the presence as well as non-presence countries’ (NPC) coverage teams. This facilitates episodic transaction origination, structuring and execution across SSA.
    • On the Global Products side, the SSA Corporate Finance team has close working relationships with the EMEA London-based Global Product Groups, primarily the Capital Markets Origination (CMO) debt platforms, including - Global Loans, Global Export and Agency Finance (EAF), International Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Project and Infrastructure Finance (PIF), as well as Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities (FICC) Businesses including - Emerging Market Credit Derivative / Trading (EMCT), etc.

    Knowledge/Experience

    • Approximately Five (5) years Corporate Finance Transactional or Corporate Banking experience;
    • International, Regional and Local (African) Capital Markets Transactional experience including executing Syndicated Loans and Debt Capital Markets (Bond) Transactions, a requirement;
    • Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with African countries and operating environment;
    • Demonstrated deal origination and marketing Capabilities;
    • Demonstrated ability to leverage opportunities across product areas in the bank (maximise cross-sell in structuring and executing transactions);
    • Demonstrated Transactional Structuring and Execution Skills. The individual must be able to work as part of an integrated deal team, but leading the same, whilst coordinating with the respective London and Africa Division Product and Coverage partners;
    • Credit structuring and risk mitigation skills;
    • Financial modelling skills;
    • Word, Excel, Powerpoint working knowledge a Requirement.

    Academic Qualifications

    • Bachelors in Finance, and/or Business Administration (BSc), and/or Investment Management with a concentration in Finance, with demonstrated and strong Academic grades;
    • A post graduate degree and/or qualification would be a plus, preferably a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent;
    • Planned and/or current enrolment in Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Chartered Accountant (CA) courses and/or certification process(es) would be a plus.
