    Senior Project Specialist

    Job description

    Role Purpose

    The Senior Project Specialist is ultimately responsible for all projects across the entire Bidvest Facilities Management portfolio and takes ownership of all business cases throughout the lifecycle of the approved projects by utilising advanced programme management techniques.

    The Senior Project Specialist will also ensure that all aspects of proper project and programme management and governance are adhered to.

    Main Outputs

    • Oversee the development of the project brief and business case ensuring technical suitability and feasibility.
    • Develop a detailed overall programme and individual project plan to track progress of all running projects.
    • Track potential project pipeline and manage expectations and client interaction proactively.
    • Authorise expenditure levels, set stage tolerances and ensure funding for agreed expenditure is available and track costs on an ongoing basis to ensure over-runs are minimised.
    • Authorise or reject proposed changes to cost or timescale beyond tolerance levels and all proposed changes to scope, checking for possible effects on the business case.
    • Ensure risks and issues are being tracked and mitigated/resolved.
    • Liaise with corporate management on progress and prepare and submit summarised dashboards on an agreed to predetermined basis.
    • Organise and chair meetings of the various project forums.
    • Authorise the project’s continuance or early closure at stage review meetings of the project meetings.
    • Authorise and sign of formal closure of the project ensuring adherence to time, scope and budget.
    • Hold a post-project review to ensure learnings are garnered to drive continuous improvement on overall project management.
    • Manage client relationships proactively and ensure great client experiences are focussed on.

    Qualifications and Skills

    The Applicant must meet the following requirements:

    • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
    • BTech / BSC Building Science / Construction Management / Engineering/ QS and Dip Project Management
    • Pr Eng / Project Management
    • Valid SA driver’s license
    • 15 years’ experience in a project environment with 10 years in a Senior Management role
    • Project Management experience in the property industry
    • Project Management experience in the telecoms environment
    • Sound knowledge of professional team fee structure
    • Microsoft -Excel
    • Microsoft - Projects
    • Microsoft – Word and Powerpoint
    • SAP – PS and FI module if possible
    • OHS Act Compliance, Legal Liability, JBCC, PROCSA
