Technical Buyer at Sappi

Job description

Sappi Ngodwana Mill requires a suitably Technical Buyer to provide a supporting role to the Sourcing Managers and Shared Service Manager ,with procurement process and sourcing expertise essential to the engineering department for goods & services and implementation of appropriate agreements for Energy, MRO items and Capital.

• Issue tenders and the evaluation and adjudication of tenders.
• Ensure that all goods and services are sourced and procured according to specification, in accordance with the procurement policy and/or as detailed in the sourcing strategy.
• Ensure that quality control procedures are implemented and adhered to by the suppliers. Certificates of conformance to be supplied where required.
• Category Management support and information assistance given to Commodity and Sourcing Managers .
• Raise deviations for work already complete without a purchase order number (post event orders).
• Liaise with technical department regarding specifications or samples. Any variance to specification the supplier to be notified immediately and action taken to rectify.
• Negotiate supplier payment terms unless already negotiated by commodity and/or sourcing managers
• Assist with achieving functional PIP objective

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• National Diploma in Supply Chain Management/ NQF 5 with 3 years’ experience in procurement
• N3 Technical certificate or Mechanical or Millwright Trade Test with 3 years’ experience as an Artisan
