    Process and Innovation Engineer

    Job description

    Main Job Purpose

    To support factory processing and packing operations in delivering factory PQCDSMI targets

    To land product and material changes and assist in CAPEX projects on time and in full into the factories. Responsible for proposing, designing, evaluating and/or implementing process improvements, supply chain saving initiatives and category technology to deliver specified innovation and increased productivity in the factory whilst ensuring SHEQ and WCM standards are maintained.

    Job Summary

    • Factory Support
      • Identifies recurring production process problems and develops solutions through consultation with suppliers, R&D teams, PG team and/or other factories.
      • Conducts process optimisation by identifying areas of improvement to positively impact productivity, delivery and quality, and to reduce cost, waste, energy and SHE risks.
      • Leads and/or assists WCM kaizen teams in kaizens proposed by FI pillar.
      • Leads and/or assists teams in SHEQ risk assessments e.g. HAZOP, HACCP, area risk assessment.
      • Modifies factory manufacturing recipes in line with factory and R&D requirements.
    • Innovation Projects
      • Links with PG team to understand innovation timings and to keep factory updated on brand innovation schedule and plans, and changes to materials, suppliers or sourcing site. Also feeds back on factory task status to these forums.
      • Leads capability phase of innovation funnel in factory for new or changed product, material or supplier change, or in house migration. This includes planning, leading and executing all aspects of trials (logistics, brief, resource allocation, target setting, manufacturing, packaging, SHEQ risk assessment and approval, modification of process flows, SOPs and recipes, training, post trial meeting, report,) managing stakeholders, presenting updates, escalation of factory issues and project handover to factory.
      • Training of the operators through SOP, OPL
      • Ensures that plant systems are updated with changes (pre-weigh, manufacturing, SAP, PAMCO, BOMs, and any other applicable system.)
      • Inputs on capital expenditure proposal lead by PG team.
    • CAPEX projects
      • Proposes and leads process improvement projects in the factory.
      • Input with preparation of capital expenditure proposal lead by PG team
      • Manages cross functional project team to deliver project OTIF and within budget.
      • Evaluates impact of change and develops the appropriate processes to mitigate risks.
      • Defines basis of safety and designs out risk through Manufacturing and Distribution Safety Approval System (MDSAS) and SIMAS approval.
      • Ensures that Quality standards (GMP, manufacturing hygiene) are maintained in design, installation and proposed operation.
      • Monitors the installation and commissioning of plant equipment.
      • Plans, leads and executes trials (as per Innovation projects above) on new equipment.
      • Ensures that plant systems are updated with changes (preweigh, manufacturing, SAP, PAMCO, BOMs, and any other applicable system)
      • Assists with training operators and write up of training material.
      • Manages internal and external stakeholders through regular updates on project status

    Key Requirements

    • Completed B.Degree, preferably in Chemical / Mechanical Engineering
    • 2 to 3 years experience in a Process Engineering type role within a manufacturing environment
