    SHE Facilitator

    Job description

    Main Job Purpose

    The SHE Facilitator implements systems to reduce Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental risks on the Site and to advise line management on legislation compliance and programme requirements.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Administration
      • Compiles and revises standards and procedures relating to SHE.
      • Maintains a library of the standing Instructions and list of holders and copies of all legislation relating to the Occupational Health and Safety matters.
      • Captures SHE committee meeting minutes and distributes accordingly
      • Develops a database of remedial actions from accident reports, minutes and housekeeping inspections.
      • Manages central archives of all statutory records.
      • Reviews, updates and maintains the Company safety and Frame work standards
      • Updates Site SHE reports on the Portal
      • Captures and analyses Behavioural Safety Observations
      • Maintain Deep Compliance Audits schedule and ensures action closure
      • Manages Contractor SHE requirements
      • Maintains SHE related training records
      • Maintain statutory appointments in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
      • Performs reporting for SHE aspects
    • Training
      • Presents the safety induction programmes.
      • Conducts SHE training needs analyses with Line Managers
      • Analyses course content for safety and health related courses to advise HR training
    • Safety
      • Ensures that all factory standards remain current.
      • Leads and drives accident and incident investigations
      • Leads Risk Assessment and Risk Mitigation activities for the site
      • Collates and circulates safety literature.
      • Advises Line Management on safety matters.
      • Carries out safety checks and HAZOP studies.
      • Is responsible for the compilation of site emergency plans and the training of personnel to exercise these plans.
      • Conducts Site inspections with Line Managers
      • Drive Safety observations and near-miss reporting with Line Managers
      • Verifies line Safety inspections and engineering statutory inspections
      • Supports emergency teams (SHE Reps, First Aiders & Fire Fighters)
      • Co-ordinates inspections of firefighting equipment and arrangement of annual equipment testing
      • Drives Pillar activities within Safety and Environment
      • Actively participates in factory projects to ensure Safety aspects and standards are included
    • Occupational Health
      • Assists in the identification of and implementation of preventative measures against occupational health hazards.
      • Compiles health monitoring programmes and organises environmental surveys in accordance with legal requirements.
      • Makes recommendations based on findings.
    • General
      • Promotes Factory housekeeping and safety awareness.
      • Analyses accident and housekeeping reports and presents to site management.
      • Advises and assists Medical Department with Workmen’s compensation enquiries and claims.
      • Acts as the local contact with the Department of Manpower, NOSA, Institute of Safety Management, International Risk Control and Fire Department.
      • Regularly audits the aspects of SHE – monthly/quarterly.

    Key Requirements

    • Diploma in Safety Management or post-matriculation qualification of S4/N6 Mechanical or Electrical engineering
    • 2-3 years manufacturing experience
    • Knowledge of OHS Act and Compensation for Occupational Injury and Disease Act.
    • SAMTRACK qualification
