Job description

QUALIFICATION:

• BEng Mining Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
• Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)
• Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE:

• 8 -10  years Relevant within a heavy industry/mining/production environment of which 5 years includes acting in managerial capacity within Mine Act/Legislation as Mine Manager for relevant class of mine (Essential/Minimum) (Operational)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Engineering Council of SA (Recommended)
• SACMA (Recommended)
• MHS Act Regulation 2.6.1 (Essential/Minimum)

COMPLIANCE, GOVERNANCE AND ASSURANCE

• Comply with SHEC and tech requirements, in line with Plant/Mine targets
• Execute SHEC programs and ensure adherence to all relevant mine surveying/statutory mine plans wrt MHSA/MPRDA/MTRA and Water Act
• Monitor/identify and respond to defects/sub-standard equip performance and other improvement opportunities

CUSTOMER AND CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

• Support core business by ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationships toward enhancing corporate profile
• Manage internal/external relations, including interface with external providers/other functions to ensure that business needs are met and employees satisfied
• Provide relevant support and legislative service to applicable stakeholders

EFFECTIVE PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

• Ensure optimized team work through motivation /empowerment and leading by sound transformational leadership
• Promote teamwork/provide support and manage performance by creating/maintaining individual development plans for subordinates
• Oversee recruitment/HR related activities
• Ensure all employees effectively trained and competent to perform required duties in disciplined manner

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

• Prepare and control dept's annual budget by forecasting OPEX and monitor expenditure/cash flow regularly
• Approve relevant contracts and documentation in line with departmental budgetary stipulations
• Ensure continuous improvement exist in cost and production areas

PROCESS OPTIMISATION

• Compile and execute divisional strategy for designated area
• Ensure achievement of business improvement targets
• Ensure optimal utilisation of mining/mineral resources, maximizing profitability of current assets through effective formulation/implementation of strategy and objectives

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• Evaluate and complete projects with minimum risk, within allocated timeframes and according to specified budgetary requirements
• Create and maintain a positive business climate and a high performance culture, by implementing high performance-culture principles and practices

REHABILITATION SERVICES

• Comply with the approved Closure Environmental Management Plan. This applies to all mining areas within the Arnot Mining Right

SAFE AND HEALTHY WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable SHE policies and procedures in line with set standards
• Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

• Ensure that business plan contributes to overall success of Exxaro
• Optimal utilization of mining and mineral resources
