Purpose of Job

To perform the Fund Accountant and Corporate Accountant responsibilities within the Finance Department

Key Performance Areas: Fund Accounting

Main Tasks

• Daily importing of fund bank statements.
• Daily receipting of contributions and single premiums received via workflow steps
• Weekly reconciling and monthly updating of the fund’s bank recons
• Processing of all journals
• Determining of net amount to be invested or disinvested from Custodian
• Capturing of investments on the online banking system for release to Custodian
• Weekly capturing of exits for completed payments
• Capturing of exits onto the online banking system
• Pay fund expenses and raise journals on Everest
• Preparation of monthly management accounts
• Preparation of quarterly management accounts
• Preparation of quarterly trustee reports
• Coordinating the preparation of the audit pack for the annual fund audits
• Preparation of annual financial statements
• Obtaining trustee approval and sign-off on the AFS
• Submission of AFS to FSB via online system
• Preparation and submission of the SARB quarterly reports
• Monthly capturing and submissions to SARS (EMP201)
• Annual reconciliation and submissions to SARS (EMP 501)
• Mini audits – perform all test as per instruction and provide feedback
• Filling of all expenses and EMP 201’s
• Ad hoc projects
• Bank analysis

Qualifications and skills

• Accounting degree with articles
• Experience and knowledge within the fund accountant arena
• 3 – 5 work experience
• Computer literature
• Familiar with accounting packages
