Job description

A challenging opportunity is available within Treasury. The successful candidate will demonstrate detailed calculations and analysis in relation to funds transfer pricing for the whole organisation. The role entails coaching and guidance to more junior team members as well as engagements with stakeholders in the business at peer level.

Overall job purpose:

• Developing Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) methodologies that will deliver balanced growth;
• Developing and maintaining the FTP processes for pricing and charging FTP;
• Analyzing and understanding the impact of FTP on the pricing behavior of businesses;
• Engages with a broad range of stakeholders on FTP related issues;
• Provide coaching and guidance to more junior team members.

Accountability

• Accountability: Funds Transfer Pricing Methodologies
• Develop and maintain behavioral / economic funding FTP methodologies and models used to determine the FTP rates for products and/or businesses.
• Suggest improvements to the FTP methodologies and models based on:
• evolving best practice,
• changes in regulation, and
• feedback from internal and external reviews.
• Run annual assumptions review, under guidance of the Head of FTP.
• Run model validations.
• Accountability: Funds Transfer Pricing input into Pricing Process
• Produce / own key inputs into pricing process, including:
• base rates,
• structural rates,
• liquidity premiums, and
• FTP curves.
• Produce & negotiate quotations for large loans and facilities based on underlying features.
• Produce & negotiate quotations for large deposits and funding unwinds
• Act as custodian of business versus fund pool boundary, ensuring arms length pricing between Treasury and business units
• Accountability: Funds Transfer Pricing Charging Processes
• Develop and maintain models for the production of FTP related inputs into finance processes.
• Assist finance with producing required FTP entries and results.
• Provide key FTP inputs into planning and budgeting process.
• Perform key checks that will ensure the validity, accuracy and completeness of assumptions and data.
• Accountability: Funds Transfer Pricing Reporting and Analysis
• Build and maintain financial models to monitor and project FTP income statement and balance sheet.
• Produce or review monthly and daily FTP reports.
• Produce Treasury Committee packs and proposals.
• Provide input into queries from SARB, ratings agencies etc.
• Accountability: Stakeholder Management
• Business unit communication and engagement.
• Relationship building across business (especially the trade floor).
• Provide oversight of short term uses of liquidity.
• Implementation of penalties for transgressions outside of agreed funding parameters.
• Stay abreast of industry and peer developments.
• Provide training to stakeholders (including the production of training material).
• Accountability: Internal Treasury Stakeholder Management
• Participation in the weekly liquidity forum.
• Monitor funding raised through the structured notes programme.
• Challenge the Treasury operating model to promote balanced growth.

Education and Experience Required

• Highly numerate individual with a strong quantitative / analytical background.
• Degree in mathematics of finance, economics, accountancy, risk management or similar.
• Treasury related experience a preference.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Good foundation in funds transfer pricing.
• Technically competent in area of funds transfer pricing.
