    Leadership & Management Facilitator

    Description

    Pearson Marang Education Trust is looking for a local Leadership and Management Facilitator/Research Assistant to support circuit managers to enable 20 under-resourced and under-performing schools to implement and manage the curriculum effectively in all phases.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain cooperative working relations with all relevant district officials and stakeholders in order to implement the Trust’s Programme.
    • Explain and negotiate with schools and relevant stakeholders, the standard terms, conditions, roles and responsibilities outlined in the relevant Programme Performance Agreement Contracts.
    • Secure signed Performance Agreement Contracts from all school stakeholders before proceeding with any development and support work and able to review them annually.
    • Implement the Trust’s School Development and Support Programme in 20 schools.
    • Provide formal monthly feedback to the District Director and provide all stakeholders with quarterly written update reports.

    Core competencies

    Improve the implementation & management of the following policies: PAM, WSE, IQMS & NNSSF
    Improve the management of the following in all subjects across grades 1 – 12:

    CAPS implementation
    Use of LTSMs and ICT
    Use LOL *T*

    • Implement PMET’s leadership and management capacity building programme in an education district by mediating effective adult learning processes to:
    • Support SMT’s to manage the CAPS curriculum guidelines effectively across the curriculum in all phases
    • Demonstrate/model, coach & mentor circuit managers in 'how to' support SMT’s to manage teachers to plan, prepare, mediate, assess, diagnose and intervene to improve teaching and learning effectively in all phases
    • Provide effective project management to support these interventions.
    • Monitor, evaluate and adapt the interventions to suit the context to ensure effectiveness.
    • Prepare monthly progress reports on your activities for head office.
    • Participate in planning, staff development and performance management activities as requested by your line manager.
    • Work within specified project budgets and keep detailed records of all expenses incurred.
    • Provide evidence of all expenses for monthly internet usage, cell phone, petrol and master card diaries for the Programme Managers.
    • Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed in using Trust facilities and resources responsibly (cell phone, laptop, printer, tablet, data projector, petrol card, credit card).
    • Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed in all work activities.
    • Suggest updates/improvements to company policies or procedures where necessary.
    • Ensure that high standards are maintained in all aspects of the Trust’s dealings with all stakeholders.
    • Bring to the attention of your line manager, any concerns or issues relating to these.

    Experience

    • The South African education system and district contexts
    • The National Qualifications Framework
    • Learner-centred and Outcomes-based teaching and learning strategies
    • The generic implementation and management of CAPS requirements across the curriculum in all phases

    Successful Practical Experience Of Effectively

    • Implementing and managing the existing CAPS curriculum guidelines in under-resourced contexts
    • Supporting schools to manage the CAPS curriculum
    • Developing the capacity to engage with circuit managers to enable schools SMT’s to manage the CAPS curriculum in under-resourced contexts
    • Computer skills to include,Microsoft Office Suite
    • Driver’s license Code 08 and have a reliable vehicle
    • Experience of supporting under-resourced schools or district offices from within the education system and from either an NPO or Corporate Social Responsibility perspective will be an advantage.

    Qualifications

    Matric a 4-year degree. An Honours or Masters in Education will be a distinct advantage.
