Job purpose

To use marketing expertise to help direct strategy and planning for promotional materials, brochures, sales tactics, and other departmental activities by assisting with the creation and development of new campaigns, sales communication, and other marketing materials, with a strong focus on product communication for both LISP and Life company products.

Key outcomes

The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Marketing Communications Specialist

• Assist with the development of new product marketing communications and brochures for both intermediaries and end clients
• Assist with regular tactical marketing campaigns (email and other) and product launches
• Assist with creating, editing and proof reading materials for print and digital: press releases, company profiles, sales mailers, product communication, weekly newsletters, blog posts and brochures
• Assist with emailer activity, including the development of mailers, to ensure these are targeted and meaningful in raising support and driving sales
• Has a proven understanding of the online audience in promoting and branding of the company as well as products and implements online initiatives to increase followers/audience
• Re-purpose existing and leverage print content for the digital properties, where appropriate to support the overall content strategy
• Writing, editing and maintenance of content on websites and social media channels
• Project manage - including planning to implementation phase of all new and existing projects
• Has insight into the design and production process of marketing collateral together with the creative team
• Works with creative teams to come up with branding ideas, marketing copy and promotional materials in line with corporate identity

Qualifications and experience

• Tertiary qualification in marketing and communications
• At least five years’ experience in a financial services marketing environment would be advantageous, particularly in LISP or Life product solutions
• Web-based and social media qualifications would be advantageous

Competencies

• The candidate needs to have excellent written and verbal skills, with a proven writing capability
• Background in digital marketing, web writing, journalism, advertising, marketing, writing, literature, communications, mass media is preferred; with at least two years; solid experience in a digital/ social media/ marketing environment in a similar role
• Excellent editorial skills with solid experience in digital content strategy
• Understand and keep up to date with the competitive environment, have excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a high focus on attention to detail
• Have the ability to work independently and across regional teams and building and maintaining relationships
• Project management skills would be advantageous

Technical Competencies

• Excellent knowledge of the use of Powerpoint
