    CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS CO-ORDINATOR

    Job description

    • Update the strategic communication plan based on the SAICA strategic plan in consultation with the senior executive marketing
    • To ensure implementation of the communication plan
    • Plan would include communication to all stakeholders, including:
      • members/associates
      • staff
      • business people, investing public
      • financial and business media
    • Plan will detail manner in which communication will be conveyed to which forum
    • Advise secretariat Project Directors on appropriate communication strategies for various SAICA initiatives
    • Monitor the implementation of the strategic communications plan
    • Co-ordinate and monitor the implementation of SAICA’s annual communication plan
    • Pro-actively liaise with Project Directors and other staff members to identify potential press release topics and communicate pre-planned key message for each department
    • Write and distribute press releases through SAICA media agents
    • Must achieve required annual media coverage and Rand value targets as agreed with the marketing director through SAICA media agents
    • Scan daily newspapers to identify issues on which SAICA should comment and refer to executive president and marketing director for further instruction
    • Maintain press release file database and distribute cuttings
    • Monitor and report on public relations coverage achieved
    • Liaison with external public relations consultants as and when required
    • Understudy the Project Director on the management of the business relationship with SAICA’s media agents
    • Establish and / or maintain ongoing communication / liaison with the financial and business media through SAICA media agents
    • Promote the image of SAICA among the media as the premier professional accountancy institute in SA
    • Implement a strategy to ensure that the reputation of the SAICA designations ((CA (SA) and AAT (SA)) are recognised by the investing public and the business community as the most professional and sought after financial and business designations in SA

    Formal Education:

    • A BA (Communications) and a Journalism Diploma or Public Relations Diploma.
    • Preferably a member of the Public Relations Institute of SA.

    Computer Literacy:

    •  MS Package

    Experience:

    • 5 years experience in writing press releases and articles,
    • as well as 2 years experience with dealing with a public relations / communications function preferably in the financial or service arenas (possibly a business / financial journalist)

    • analytical ability (interpret Strategic plan into Communication plan)
    • excellent English written ability
    • ability to meet deadlines
    • ability to work under pressure
    • ability to plan and prioritise
    • presentable and professional
    • maturity as to sensitivity of press releases vs. image of Institute
    • must be able to work as part of a team
    • tactful and able to work with difficult people
    • must always be aware of the Corporate image
    • organised and accurate
    • must have drivers licence and own transportation
