Mid-Level Front End Developer at BNRY

Job description

A mid-weight frontend developer is a mid-level employee working within BNRY’s technical team.

Leveraging sound knowledge of the latest HTML/CSS, JavaScript and frameworks, s/he is experienced in developing ground-breaking interactive, responsive, cross-browser, cross-platform technologies and highly-interactive digital experiences. Mid-weight frontend developers have a strong understanding of layout aesthetics and as well as a perspective on front- and back-end technologies and their impact on the design process for projects including but not limited to websites, apps and software.

All BNRY developers contribute to the production of quality and award-winning work because they are genuinely enthusiastic about technology and being part of the developer community.

• Knowledge Requirements
• Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related fields.
• Combination of formal education and direct experience is ideal.

Other requirements

• South African citizenship or valid passport and work visa
• Driver’s licence and own car or reliable access to public transport (sometimes outside of business hours) is essential.

Experience

At least three years’ experience in frontend development, ideally in a digital agency environment.

Other experience and skills:

• Understanding of information architecture, user interface, user experience and related.
• Sound experience using JavaScript ES6, as well as various JavaScript libraries and frameworks (e.g. React.js).
• Sound experience in HTML5 & CSS3, as well as responsive design.
• Some knowledge of a CSS pre-processor i.e. LESS, SASS etc.
• Some knowledge of source control (Git).
• Experience with the following advantageous:

• Ruby on Rails, .Net, Python, NodeJS and/or similar
• Mobile application development with Xamarin, Android, iOS
• SQL and database concepts
• Canvas/WebGL
• Advanced UI, UX and highly dynamic web interface development skills.
• Understanding of object-oriented analysis and design.
• Experience of user testing.
• Sound written and oral communication skills.
• Systematic and organised, with the ability to proactively manage time and deadlines.
• The ability to work in a team alongside a variety of personalities.
• Experience directing and mentoring junior team members.
• An obsessive eye for detail
• An interest in more than what is required of the job.
